F/S: Clamshell Gaunts, Spaulders & Vambraces

Spaulders are still sitting here collecting dust. Mild steel from cold forge armory. The rivets have been changed out for solid brass. The internal strapping was changed to nylon ballistic straps (after a critical failure at practice) which is not visible when worn. They have bronze buckles from Qui...

It's just 6mm black closed cell foam that is held into the cop and the outline of the cop traced onto the foam. Then the excess foam was trimmed off with a pair of scissors. Use a razor blade to put slits every 3/8" from the center out to 1.5" in from the edge (this allows the foam to easi...

I'm getting a lot of enquiries for measurements, so I've taken some more photos with a yard stick. The chainmail is obviously maleable. I can stretch it to 27" in width. As shown in the photo below, it's 19.5" in width. As you stretch it out in width it will shrink top to bottom (just like...

FYI, I had pm'd Sasuke awhile back to commission a pair exactly like the ones Sean is selling. Since I jumped on these, Sasuke is out of a commission, but on the bright side, maybe they won't fit and I'll have to commission a set anyhow. I have a theory that Sasuke is actually too busy right now wor...

Like others have said. Your top garment will cover your braies (you hope), or if you're very shy, you can get joined hosen, but they're not as comfortable/cool in warm climates as chausses, and they're about twice as expensive. Mid to 4th quarter of the 14th century, you can wear a cotehardie like t...

Who was singing at the Saturday evening court? (I couldn't see from where I was sitting). Whoever it was a fantastic voice and it carried all the way up to where Angelsey was camping. Also, what was that song?

I hope to see everyone in the north turn out for the muster tomorrow.

Not to kill anyone's business, but I recently switched to a carpenter's comfort belt, on the advice of one of the excellent fighters I know. I tried pointing my cuisses to my arming coat and it just wound-up binding my shoulder up. Went back to hanging them off of a belt. Got a good tip after that practice though, to use a carpenter's belt instead of my kidney belt. A lot more comfortable. Keeps the belt from digging in to your hip.

I'm going to say that it would probably be a "no". I'm not sure how likely it would be for a non-associated captain to take action to someone not under his command. If the stripped commoner then complained to his own captain, there could be a brawl brewing between who has the right to cher...

IMHO leather will be hot, but it can be durable and less maintenance (if you use upholstry leather or oil tanned). You can fall into mud, and hose it off or clean with saddle sope. Do NOT use suedes. They tear easily. Cloth will be cooler (especially linen), but then when it gets dirty and sweaty, h...

Making a torse or burlet

Does anyone have a "how to" page on how to make a torse for a helmet? They look similar to a lady's burlet or "head-roll" and usually worn with a mantle by knights. Is it just a tube with a ribon wrapped around it? Looks like I am going to try to get some sewing done this weekend...

Technically it's 16 gauge stainless and 15 gauge in mild (depending on who's flat sheet steel chart you look at) as the rule is that it must be .0625" to pass. Even if it is sold to you as 16 gauge stainless...if it's under .0625" it fails. (though I've yet to see a marshal whip out the de...
