Re: WTB: Doll armour

I have a ton of loose 9mm rings I'm not using and could probably whip something up out of them. But I have another suggestion if you haven't already gotten them one of these. It's not a doll or armor, but it's more huggable than a chinese made plastic doll with a metal casing. And it would be a bett...

Re: Armor museums to see near Maryland?

Sorry this is a bit late in stating it, but I think you may have missed the sweet spot on the Walters. There is actually NO 14th century armor or weapons at the Walters, what so ever (which it sounds like you discovered). So for those only interested in extant war pieces from the 14th, you should sk...

Re: Some dagger/knife scabbards from the weekend

After finishing Klaus's scabbard, I went back to working on my MRL sword hilted dagger scabbard.

The dk brown band at the throat can be swapped out depending on the suspension. I also need to make a chape in matching steel for it.

You probably won't find a much better deal than Yojimbo's. But if that one is too large, Kult of Athena has a smaller one (14.25" OAL) which is $50. With the money you save from either of those, you could commission someone to make you a scabbard and be well under $200. http://www.kultofathena.com/i...

My powers of observation are the antithesis of Sherlock Holmes. I completely skipped over the link. The after affect is that you will have to live with a shortened grip or yo...

Re: replacing the hardware on a windlass sword

Windlass swords are pretty ideal for customization. The later models have pretty decent blade treatment, and are just the right price, such that you're not worried too much about messing them up. Also they are always seem to be made 70% right; usually missing the right shaped grip, metal finish, ove...

The stainless sheet for that would run in the $110.00 just for the material (I'm estimating a minimum of 5 sq. ft. without any overage worked in). I also wouldn't want to be the one to have to cut the 100+ rivet holes in 14 ga stainless steel. Peening 100 stainless rivets and the rolled edging also ...

I should also mention the stone shown is a red carnelian. The ring itself is antiqued silver 930 (millesimal fineness) sterling grade. I just wanted to give a review I have of a commission I made last month with an intaglio maker in Germany. If you want something pre-fabbed, Kult of Athena has an Arms & Armor tudor period dagger for $180.00. Re: Handgonne added to collection

The satisfactory answer I received on here when I posed a similar question was that the ring is for suspension, either from a hook or lanyard while mobilized or stored. (.e.g. slung over one's shoulder or on a saddle or possibly hung on a rack.)
There is only one ring, so it seems logical to me.

I can't figure the name of the tent company (I'm horrible with names but remembered the tent). The name of the photo was "Germany 2011 - Black Magic Jamboree". Some sort of scouting event in Germany.
Judging by the size of the car at 3 o'clock, that thing's pretty massive!

I had commissioned a handgonne last fall from John Buck of Musket Mart. I received it in June (later than the expected date, but I was still extremely happy with the result).
