Re: How historically accurate is this sword?
I doubt that the weight is including the scabbard. Darksword is known for making good stump choppers. (not that there is anything wrong with that at all). But they are not known for producing slender blades. I don't particularly like cutting up branches in the back yard with my steel, so it's not my...

Real horn is actually much more transparent than you might think. Natural horn doesn't obstruct the electrical parts or the bulb hardly at all, while off, much less when it's on. The fake horn (plastic painted with various shades of brown/black/yellow) is only roughly reminiscent of horn. But multip...

The thing to consider with archery is that you really want to shop cheaply for 2 reasons: 1) if they stick with it, then they will outgrow the pull very quickly as they develop technique and/or muscles as they grow 2) if they don't stick with it, then it becomes a device for getting chew toys from u...

You lose the advantage of a mass weapon strike to shoulder or hip being a "killing" blow. Most people didn't take my kong head mace hits anyway. Of course, I throw like a 9 year old girl with tennis elbow.AaronCarter wrote:If it's a huge issue I'll tape a cutting edge on it and call it a sword.

No financial interest. You'll have to contact the seller for any other information other than what I've posted here... A+++! (It's much better looking than any of my hilts.) If you use a long enough screw (I used 5/16" x 6" ones and pre-tapped the hole with a 1/4" drill bit), I don't think there is much chance of it letting go. If you taper the rattan right, there is so much friction once you screw in the lag bolt, ...

I bought this handgonne from Dustin on the archive classifieds a few weeks ago. It had been painted black and the interior needed a good cleaning, so I unmounted it from the stock. Re: Looking for a replica 14th C sword
If you're looking for something with a scabbard, you're pretty much limited to Windlass or Hanwei. There's a big price gap that is not well bridged between far eastern productions and western made swords. For the low end, Hanwei or Windlass can cost you $150-$350. The good news is that most of those...

Seems to be the same idea behind the Ozark Medieval castle and the French Chateau de Guedelon projects currently running. The first one, Guedelon is much further along, of course.
