Kult of Athena will make a scabbard to fit any sword they sell for $99. No wood core though. It appears the one you reference doesn't either, though.

Re: Spring Cleaning of my closet sale
I'm willing to part with the greaves, as I'm going to be going to a burgandy color in my armour. But they will be pretty size specific since I made them to fit my own legs over hosen. They'll flex a bit due to being leather, but they may not be comfortable unless your legs are similar shaped. They a...

I'm jumping the gun on spring. But since I'm looking to relocate in a couple of months, I figure this might be a good time to thin the goods out. I can do Paypal, M/O, Checks or livestock. Over the next few days the list will probably expand, but initially, I have the following items for sale: More ...

I could use another baselard, and I'd like one with a narrow double edged blade as you show. One with the scale handle in elongated H form. But that would take some pretty serious welding effort on the tang on that example. Like this, but with a narrower blade: http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/420...

I'm not going to tip the info on who the kicked-off jouster is (As I figure west coasties have an hour or two before the show starts). I think this is the only photo I've seen of the original. From MyArmoury. I don't know that I've ever seen the actual dimensions, but if you've ever held the replica, you can immediately tell it is "oversized". The length of the gripping area is longer than my single hand swords. And when compared t...

Mine might be a bit big for him. And I just realized this the type with the wrap around plate on the back, not an open grill, so it's technically NOT open eared. Please disregard my offer.

Rondel dagger scabbard
I purchased this MRL rondel dagger with brass handle from Kult of Athena. The reviews on it were very good overall based on price. Loosely based on a piece based in the Museums for Deutsche Geschichte dated to around 1400. The negative comments being about it's heft, and the overly large size, and t...

I have a stainless steel kettle helm I might be willing to part with (I only have 7 now), for $300 and possibly include shipping (depending on cost).
It's for a 23.5" head. Since the front grill comes off, it might be able to be adjusted a bit.

Vinegar worked well for me cleaning some old WWII leather pouches that had a bad mildew scent to them. I added 50/50 water/vinegar solution to a spray bottle, and sprayed liberally in and out. You're going to buy a white belt and then you're going to dye it?
(Most white leather I've seen is chrome, oil or tawed. So dying may not be a good idea unless you like colors bleeding into your clothes).

You could always make your own:

I cheeted by using welds on the end pieces. But you could probably do these with just clever peening. Metal stock I got online and Home depot, and cuts made with a hacksaw and a dremel tool.

Ice Falcon sells relatively inexpensive gambesons. They are mostly cotton though (some of the stitching thread is poly, shell and liner and I think the batting are all cotton). The outter shell is pretty tight weave. Not quite canvas though.

Re: A 10- "Things" Challenge- Help needed!
So far as I know, and I've done a lot of looking, woodblock print cards aren't known until the 15th century. The earliest reference to playing cards in Europe is 1352 in Sicily. After that it's 1370-something in Italy proper. Cards before the 14th Century appear to have been hand-painted/drawn. I'm...

Re: Help making char cloth
Pack the cloth in there tightly too (But not so tightly it pushes the top off). A key to keeping air out is to use very tightly woven 100% cotton fabric. Air that is trapped between loosely woven fabric, or synthetic blends will burn/adhere.

I don't know anything about that particular bow, but since it was only used once, it probably hasn't been "trained" to a particular draw length to fear over-draw. And most self longbows have a maximum suggested draw of: over-all length (nock to nock) minus 6 inches, and the remainder divided in half...
