Re: Windrose shipping?
Windrose refunded me shipping on something (I think it was sword hardware that fit in a flatrate box). And I didn't even complain. They just issued me a refund with a note saying that it was the difference in shipping cost. I think it's actually hard for any company to have a system that really look...

The watch is a cheap chinese pocket watch. You can pick them up on ebay for $14 including shipping. So it's worth about as much as the retail on the smaller Osprey books. Additionally; looking around, I can also offer up a pair of Damascus leather driving gloves/gauntlets new in the pack. They are i...

I'm glad to see you added more articulations to the spine. Does the rib-cage expand? When dogs breath their ribcage can flex a great deal. It's very spiffy detail work. Reminds me of the guy that made cat and mouse armor. http://gamesnet.vo.llnwd.net/o1/gamestar/objects/106093_main.jpg

It wasn't compulsory as a boy to practice with a bow until you were 16 y/o in England from 1363 onward. In 1252 the Assize of arms (england) required anyone from 15 to 65 to have a bow and arrows, and anyone with 40-100 schillings in to own a dagger and sword. On one hand, you can look at it as thou...

Re: Advice for a 14th century armour chest?
A simple peg constructed box should work well. My only suggestions over a simple square box is that you give it proper structural elements and decoration. I made mine by grouping all of my armor bits together in as compact as I could get them in a squarish pile (nesting bits together, like putting g...

Slight breeze is all you need with silk. A taller telescoping flag pole will help too to raise it above tent lines and and leave it in the path of unobstructed breezes. You can get a 22' telescoping fiberglass one for $45 on ebay (free ship). Collapses down to about 4.5'. Weighs very little and easi...

Even though it sounds as if Paypal wasn't handling that particular case quite right, the conversation seems a bit slanted, and the reality is that you're only hearing one person's opinionated view. I would also point out that there are a couple of items in that person's iteration that have a sour ri...

Re: 14th century cuisses w/ outside splints?
As someone who's worn rigid, form-fit leather cuisses, I can see value in something that flexes in the thighs. When running in armor, my thighs are the first things to cramp up. Even though leather has a bit of flex to it, your thighs can change drastically in shape from relaxed to flexed state. Whe...

I think if you're really intrested in your geneology, Galfrid's idea is great. It's truely science that traces alleles. 60 lbs. is a hunting weight bow. Unless they've shot before, or have muscles from doing a lot of rowing or wood splitting, they won't have the muscles or technique to pull 60 lbs. out of the box (i'm guessing). I'm passing. Even though I love Magnus's style of helmet, with the cleaning and the lack of mounting nuts, it tips the scale in not being a good deal for me. The plaque belts that have tongued buckles, obviously work like a modern tongued buckle. The hole for the tongue sitting centered between the plaques. Then there are plaque belts that are pinned like hinges of a door. Most are riveted permanently in place, but where the belt meets itself, there is a...

Baron, I called the treadle a trammel above. But it's the cross shaped device that is holding the top. There were cannon commented upon by Froissart and Villani at Crecy (c1346). But this is one of the earliest descriptions of cannon in use in western europe. Not exactly rife and 50 years too late for pre-1300.
