Galvyn, If Damon passes on the Lewis Moore gauntlets, I have a pair of Moore "Wisby" style I might willing to trade you for. These are also stainless. I'm in the middle of restoring them. (These were made by riveting directly through the fingers of the gloves, rather than riveting to leath...

But with the caveat that people seem to be glossing over because of the photos of guys wearing metal armor, is that they are going to be wearing "state of the art protective gear" and not necessarily metal armor.

I bought 3 sets to use for combat archers, but as Gideon mentions; they are a medium to small glove, and I would add they really don't look as nicely formed as the pictures would imply. I wound-up selling them on the archive months ago for a big loss (50% discount...but that was when they were selli...

You'll probably have to commission someone to cast them for you. Armor and Castings do custom work, and so does a user on here with the name "Castings".
If you get them custom made then you can have them in the perfect size and shape and not have to make any concessions.

If they say something is in stock, you can almost take it to the bank. Shipping in my experience has been super fast. I've bought 4 daggers, 3 swords from them, as well as a cloak without issue. Their pricing is ridiculously lower than other retailers.

I tried calling several barrel makers, including the two you've suggested, but evidently there is a common theme that 1) they don't have or like email and 2) they don't like answering their telephones, or returning voice mail messages. My badge is not recognized in the SCA, but it's inspired by the kingdom and a desire to have canted arms (a visual play on words or homogram). Atlantia being a maritime locale, I've always liked the escallop, it's symmetry and it's relation to pilgrimage. I had at one point considered of a historic ...

WTB - 14th cen Handgonne
I may have posted similar in the past. I'd like to buy a handgonne, specifically a pole mounted 14th cen type. With or without pole. Used and worn is fine. My preference is a brass or bronze, but steel is okay. I'd also be interested in the casting mold for the ammo as well. I know that The Rifle Sh...

I was glad at Pennsic 39 to have a globose on in one of the castle battle scrums. I was at the bottom of a pile-up. I think there were two people on top of me, but my globose bridged my ribcage, and while a couple of people near me, including the person directly on top of me were wheezing "I ca...

It's the angled sleeve. Look at gambesons from people like Icefalcon and the jupon of Charles the bold. The forearm is sewn on at an angle because in a relaxed state, our arms aren't straight like a ruler, they actually bend by about 10°-15°. The pics that Wade Callen posted of an extant maille slee...

I believe it would be tough for modern kids to watch, but; Ingmar Bergman's "The Seventh Seal" starring Max Von Sydow. The 'English' version is subtitles. There is no score, and a lot of the allegory will proably be over their heads. But the costuming is very well done and it touches on so...

Be very careful putting it in a vice. There are moving parts inside, and pinching the housing can cause something to bind or break, or even crack the housing. The housings on them tend to be a bit of a taper, too...so if you use a vice you may not want to torque it down tightly (to prevent cracking ...

When I decided to pick a time frame to glom onto, I started with early 15th century English, height of the hundred years war. Man. Than things people have to do to establish a policy.
Moving mountains seems trite in comparison. You've got to hand it to people that are that much of a glutton for the punishment. (Not saying it's a thankless job, but it has to be emotionally and physically draining).

I like Anshelms plaque belts, but that's not a plaque belt the effigy he posted is wearing. It's a sword belt (leather and/or fabric) with mounts. Widths vary a bit. The one you posted looks to be one of the wider sword belts...I'm guessing it is around 2.5" wide based on the effigy height. It ...

Alger Henry Stafford Howard held the title of Windsor Herald from 1919 to 1931. So my guess is that it dates back to about that time frame. The problem with riveting to the foundation or padded layer is that there is nothing between the inside of the rivet and the person. So when a strike meets the rivet, it digs directly into the flesh. It's why there is always atleast a small padded layer against the flesh no matter what armor/era/reg...
