And it took more than Trude. It took longer in some kingdoms than in others. It was bitterly argued, debated, fought over. And to this day there are men who will choose not to fight against women. People have differing opinions on many things. But were they ever _banned_ from fighting? Yes.

There are other products that are gel form, but I haven't tried any of them. Also, DON'T EVER leave ...

I have, while carrying a heavy load of gear, had to (politely) ask knights who were chattering away if they would kindly hold the door for me for a moment. In some ways, it seems that we’ve all grown very casual (me included) in the SCA. Certes, had those knights been gentlemen of quality, they s...

Re: How did women gain the right to fight heavy?

What arguments were made for and against allowing women in SCA armored combat? Uhh.. I'm guessing, that coming out of the 60's in Berkely, there was never a QUESTION of "allowing" or "disallowing" them. Actually it was fairly controversial at the time. If you google around a bit...

Also, don't ask me what you call someone who takes offense at being addressed with the wrong honorific... it's, how you say, not very genteel. I would generally give an earnest "I beg your pardon, Your Grace/Highness/Majesty" followed by not having much to say to this person, ever again

The rules of polite behaviour aren't really different from modern polite behaviour, with a couple exceptions. 1. The only people you are expected to bow/curtsy to are sitting royalty, and territorial barons and baronesses in their own baronies , if you choose to bow to other peers, barons, or barone...

The aforementioned HRH Edward was knighted in '05. I'm still not sure of his exact age, but I'll place him over 50 when he was elevated and over 55 when he won his first crown, maybe even closer to 60.

Graedwyn, what you got?

My own purely subjective opinion of butcher mail is that it's too fine; it doesn't "read" as mail from a distance (sort of a reverse 10' rule) and offers precisely zero actual protection compared to a plain linen shirt. The one good thing about it beside the price is it also weighs little ...

Armour as worn can work well with a counted blows system, not so much otherwise. A system I have used, and enjoyed, is 3 blows on mail, 5 on plate, 1 on unarmed parts including face grille and concealed plastic. I fight in a mail hauberk with a fair amount of concealed plastic, so this system gives ...

Make some ridiculous change to your style. Fight only single-sword; fight off-handed; fight single-sword offhanded; trade your heater for a buckler. Do it until you're at least 3/4 of your current skill level with your primary form.
