Also, how much protection does it offer? Can I legitimately go with just kidney protection? I don't get hit in the body *much*, but it does happen (more with 2 swords). I wear 2 layers of fabric and a kidney belt under mild steel, 9mm, wedge-riveted mail. It is not uncommon to have some nice mail-p...

New Stick
It is 21:40, and I just finished wrapping a new sword for Crown tomorrow. I am really itching to go whack the pell with it, but I have a don't piss off the neighbors policy of no pell after 21:30. Oh well, guess I'll just have to bust its cherry upside someone's head in the morning...

Apparently I am failing to express myself clearly. My last post had nothing to do with documentation per se . I will try one more time. The question is, if a fencer is elevated to the Laurel, what, fundamentally is that fencer being elevated for ? Is it for being a great fencer, who may or may not h...

We offer them with the hooks sewn on? How did I miss that? Ummmm, let me check and get back to you. Gwen Sorry, I appear to have mis-read your site. You offer them as a set ; I just assumed that would be already sewn together, but the site doesn't say that. So, revised question, can we buy them in ...

O.k., we already have the peerage, it's called the Laurel. How is studying a historical manual, both text and pictures, and applying it to what you do in rapier any different from reading a historical text seeing the pictures associated with it and then make an outfit that's an exact duplicate? OK,...

Mostly just history. For quite a long time, armored combat was the only game in the SCA. Then, along came the fencers, and a lot of us (myself included) viewed them sort of like you'd view people wanting to kick around a soccer ball in the middle of your football game. It turned out we were wrong, a...

Out of curiosity, who here wants to get so good their name gets mentioned on these lists? Who thinks it's an achievable goal before they start to get too old or out of shape? There is no doubt in my mind that if I push myself I can acheive the collee and spurs of a knight, and win a crown or two. S...

Mistress Eilidh na Tire Daragh. I've fought for her in every Crown I've entered My mind is like a seive; my apologies for having failed to note your obvious constance. except for the one (at the time she was Kingdom Seneschal). Just so I know I'm not totally living in space, that time did you fight...

There are no such thing.
You could disguise plastic cuisses as gamboised or splinted, but for a 14C kit at least the actual poleyns need to be steel.

It is not customary for the list to be published in Caid, so nothing but rumours and hearsay, but: I'm fairly sure neither Sven nor Kolfinna will be fighting I will be fighting for the honor of Mistress Aldgytha Sir Ragnar has told me to expect him, fighting for Countess Anastasia I would be surpris...
