If he's intentionally trapping your weapon, then you are justified in doing whater it takes to get him off, up to and including tossing him across the field (assuming you're that strong).

If he's accidentally got your weapon tangled up in his gear somehow, then you stop the fight and untangle.

This is gonna be a tough one; usually I can call the final 4 with some degree of accuracy, but I can't narrow this one down to fewer than 6 strong contenders.

I didn't think there would be any "chaise longue"'s in medieval Europe but I just had to check. Bear in mind that it was considered entirely proper to receive guests while lying in your bed. (Which, BTW, is still more modest than the Romans, who were known to conduct business while sittin...

Don't mess with historical fiction, just go to the source. Pick up the Eddas and sagas for Norse, Ulrich von Lichtenstein and Wulfram von Eshenbach (sp?) for High Middle Ages German. Supplement with just about any basic history textbook on the periods in question.

Do you have a power drill? If so, you can find buffing wheels that fit it.

It really is a lot easier with power tools than elbow grease. Really.

OK, sorry I mis-read your first post. 1) The leg shot - hips and upper thighs are notoriously hard to arm well and still be able to move, and polearms hit hard, so a polearm shot above the cuisse giving you a 2-day limp is within the normal range of bad things that can happen in SCA fighting. The go...

Considering how much he does for us for free, I'm OK with some issues not being fixed instantaneously.

In Vitus's case, it is stainless, so no worries.

BTW, in case you were wondering, you won't find a helmet exactly like your picture in any time or place prior to the late 20th century.

That is a heavily SCAified helmet meant to more or less resemble the type of helmet Gregory posted.

Unless the mail were an extremely fine weave, making fingered gloves out of it would render your hand all but useless. Not that a weave that fine was necessarily beyond the abilities of the period, but I'd really want to see a lot clearer evidence before I'd buy it.
