Daithi, thank you for sharing your experience. It's neat to see/hear about when folks step out of the known and try something new, finding it's something entirely different from what they expected.

I also make gift tags and other sorts of things for Royalty to attach to gifts, etc. I do mid-level scrib...

I guess the thing about this that worries me is ... Are they likely to fight with as much honor and chivalry and dignity if they are fighting on behalf of a "cause" outside themselves, as they would if they were fighting to sit the Throne? [i.e., Duke Smith and his Duchess don't think that...

Here's my pics - I didn't get a lot, but got some. http://www.flickr.com/photos/43523113@N07/ For me, Battlemoor was about two things - the Ansteorran gift basket and family. Yeah, I know, not exactly the norm. My family lives in the Outlands, and I only get to see them about once a year. IT was fun...

A Curious Query: Ducal Prerogative

I'm curious about the history and tradition of Ducal Prerogative. [i.e., a Duke's right to enter a Crown List and drop out of the competition when they wish, despite not having been eliminated.] How did this tradition get started? Why do people think it is a good or bad or indifferent thing? I would...

I have purchased waxed linen thread at Michaels, Hobby Lobby and WalMart. It's usually in the beading section. I used it for a goodly while on all the amber jewelry I was making, but have stopped because about 75% of the necklaces have broken! The thread just shreds when worn regularly :(

Amber

I have fun with making jewelry from amber. While it's inspired by period-ish pieces, I'm pretty sure it doesn't qualify for anything other than a 'creative' (stress on that word) anachronism. I have been working on items for the Battlemoor Gift Basket, which the Ansteorran Royals will be presenting ...

If you did not make them, do you know who did?

I'd like to credit the armorer appropriately.

The pen set:

Rotring 4 Pen College Set 0.25mm,0.35mm,0.5mm,0.7mm - $143.00 new - https://buckhams.com.au/products.php?cat=213

The Fluid Writer is about $4.00 at Hobby Lobby.

Hope that helps,
