You lucky bastage! Congrats on the gift! Yes... honor the man with a good, timely gift. I have a newer style of that anvil... mine was made by Mankel in Cannonsburg, Michigan. I would suggest doing a hand rub-down on that to clean up the rust... Others may have better thoughts on cleaning up the rus...

What makes you think the chartes arms have shell articulation, not floating? Good Point... I am so used to seeing shell articulation.... To the InterTubes! Also, I was looking at the booklet from Talbot... which has shell articulation. Man... I would love to go get a first hand look at the effigies...

Looking to build...

Okay... I have decided I am going to give a shot at making a set of 14th C arm harnesses. Based loosely on the Chartres arms. My question is about the articulation... how best to lay it out. I have heard that it is best if you set it up so that the rivets are in a line when the harness is straight.....

I agree with Nissan. If there is ANY question on the blow/shot, ask your opponent to not take the shot. Or.. if a marshal is present, and your opponent agrees to it, ask the marshal for their input on it. Ultimately, it is up to your opponent. edit Just make sure the next shot is cleanly struck!
