Heh, switching weaves like that can be fun sometimes. I'm working on the inlay for my hauberk - 5 metals, 2 gauges, 2 weaves. It's interesting weaving, to say the least.

When I made mine - I expanded down the cylender too (I was making it with an integral mantle). When sizing for the face, I just put the cap on and put a couple of garbage bag ties (the green twisty things) on the rings that bordered where I wanted the hole to be, and when weaving, left this section ...

I have heard the cement mixer (or equivalent tumbler) works well for deburring holes and removing rust from maille and lamellar plates. Never seen it done or done it myself though.

Well, I want to etch some sterling silver disks (3/4" diameter), and was wondering what would be a good acid to use. May I suggest Lord Charles' 45 degree seam instructions ? The 90 degree seam is just making the long rectangle, folding over, and stitching up the sides. It has no plug on it - looks to have been cut off long ago. It just says 230/460 Volts, which makes me think it'll run off a dryer outlet with few problems, if any.

Take both measurements, and average them together. Maille isn't meant to be worn fully stretched, but it won't lay correctly if fully compressed either. You want it to rest at "halfway point", hence the average.
