From experience (in a boot insole) that stuff does not survive well with repeated impacts.

I ended up with a *really* blue sock, in a very short amount of time.

Also, there's this stuff for making the mold. You can make the button head in clay or milliput (available from the same folks).

Ok, coming from someone who has not made a gaunt... In picture 7, the piece with the leather lace through it - It would seem to me that you would want to trim that flare back a bit, so it doesn't cut into your thumb. Does that actually contact the web of the thumb, or is it just the angle of the pic...
