Didn't Steve Forth have a post on tinning lots of rivets for his Wisby gauntlet project?

On the center bottom - could it be a leather pad to keep the tassets from scratching up the legs?

Got a link for the riveting tool?
I prefer tinner rivets (flat head) - put the flat on the inside (where my squishy bits are) and hammer on the outside.

Re: Refurbishing a Brigandine
It sounds like the shell is disintegrating away. It's likely you'll have to replace the shell - canvas is a good, economical option. Some folks use 2 layers - canvas and a facing materiel (velvet, leather, etc).
I haven't worked with a brig, I'm sure others that have will have better detail for ya.

Re: WWI Italian body armor
Seems all of the helms (save the one on suit 100) have a bullet hole in them. #100 looks like it has a hole in center-body mass, where the overlaps change. The high-res is helpful in looking at them. That said, they're not something I'd choose to be seen wearing in public. Their weight probably cont...

If that's the spacing, I'd say you probably have overbuilt them by a pretty wide margin.

Get those silica packs like those found in beef jerky packages. You can order them in bulk online fairly cheap. Toss a handful in each vacuum bag to take care of any moisture that might be present.

Re: New armourer looking for a supplier
The local welding shops (fabrication - they make farm implements) will sell off-cuts or full sheets by the pound (so whatever the going rate is). No shipping, just gotta go pick it up.
Check around your town - there's likely some place that has new steel sheet sitting there waiting for you.

Bellows-visored Sallet question
Probably wrong forum... Looking at the Sallet at the Wallace (online, sadly, not in person) -- number A-72 specifically -- I know with the German Sallets, one would wear a bevor with it. I have not seen a helm like this with its corresponding harness. I don't see how a bevor would work with it. How ...

Chad, I'm not interested myself, but you may get better results if you post your size (and if there's wiggle room in the helm/torso) - that way you don't get a thread full of people asking sizing (like the helm) and such.
Good luck in your sale - looks like a nice kit.

There's always interest for wedge-riveted stuff - supplies, tools, etc.
(including my interest)
Francis, I think the piercing drift would get chewed up horrendously on stainless - not saying it doesn't exist though. I think you'll find pin or welded stainless more common.
