Re: Saftey shop tips... please add if you have some.

PPE - Eyes, Ears, Hands. Safety glasses (or face shield), hearing protection, gloves. Before starting anything in the shop, I put on my safety glasses and ear muffs, then put on my work gloves. Clean your workspace. Metal filings, wood chips, saw dust - all these things muck up the works at best - a...

Re: Shears We Should Pay Attention To

The website FAQ page wrote: Where is Baileigh Industrial products made?

They are made in our manufacturing plants all over the world. We currently have plants in USA, Portugal, Italy, Poland, England, Germany, China, and Taiwan
Probably still better than Harbor Freight.

And the blade bent badly just hitting the bale after the downward angle cut on the watermelon.

Creative editing to heat the blade to make sure it bent?

I don't have the image online anymore - but there's 2 books with pictures posted here -- maybe your library can get them for you to look through.

Arms and Armour of the Medieval Knight pops up on Ebay quite often and is worth having in your own personal book collection.

Re: Compression Articulation Crotch Area

Welcome to the board! The reason? Cost and expertise - that would be a very high precision area - something that would cause serious armor bites if not correct and also can get messed up with impacts. If buying from an armourer - cost cost cost. the more they have to fiddle with it, the more it cost...

Well your first picture is a picture of Hal's "Carlos" helm kit. (Halberds, if you don't know him already) He's poking around here on the Archive and it usually quite helpful if asked nicely. What helm are you going to be putting the face plate onto? The helm shape fairly well dictates what face pla...

Elyas - Check with your large-scale food service places (or the local college restaurant and hotel administration folks) -- they usually have to pay someone to haul off the 30-50 gal plastic barrels. They usually had pickles or jalapenos in them - hence the "pickle-barrel plastic armour" term. If yo...

That looks like a Ring Lord kit - which would mean they are closer to key rings than jump rings (hence the need for the pliers).

The scales work their way off a standard jump ring.

The knock-off will break. My dad always tells me (regarding buying tools) to buy one step better than the best I can afford - it'll be cheaper in the long run. The cheap punch will not hurt the pocketbook today, but you'll end up buying more of them in the long run (or suffering production slow-down...
