not playing SCA but from what I've heard mention time and time again, the very minimum with 16ga galvy would be 5/16" I.d. rings and expect to do regular repairs. 14ga can go as high as 3/8". Alum. warren, back me up on this but I would say Fieblings black oil based dye, 1 or 2 applications with a wool dauber should give you a deep black, especially with a dark red base, and follow it with a few coats of sealer like leather-sheen.

that yellow tank was not acetylene, didn't have any of the substrate and acetone mix in the cilinder. I think it was straight CO2 that didn't pass muster, I got it for free from the gas wholesaler in town, it was a dump job from someone who couldn't care to get it certified. I've never worked with bead rollers but is it possible that you would need to do it in 2 passes to get the D 1/2 roll and then finish it off with the hammer after setting the wire in?

Hal, looks like the form is working great for you. You might want to do as I did and weld a plate to the bottom with some bolt holes, that way you can secure it in place for semi permanent dishing, or you could partially fill it with lead, the weight should hold it in place and the lead should help ...

I know Metalsupermarket has brass and copper in sheet form, don't know if they supply full sheets tho but they do have it in smallish sheets in the off cut bins. I'm to conclude that those off cuts come from full sheets they carry stock.
