Are you looking for arms and legs to match each kits or do you want something seperate for each? As uninformed as I am, I don't believe that the arms would match both kits, the main difference lying in the elbows of the italian arms being typicaly fanned cops as opposed to a 1450 millanese type full...

Need advice on welder

I just picked up a welder this afternoon, brand name Cebora, model 883. 110v. The only problem is that I have never welded before and the thing didn't come with a manual or instructionnal video. Anyone can tell me a bit more about this specific model and what its capable of handling? Also, what kind...

OurDecay, the sword is an early model CAS Iberia sword, the Daguesse. The small bit of probable history on the blade shape and style was that it is modeled after a 16th cent. french blade, although I have no idea as to the veracity of that description. What I can tell you is that its an early philli...

Wolf, I haven't tried the leather over the current maille but you're right, it would work well for a viking/eske kit along with the helm. still need to make a chin strap for it though, it slips off my head too easy still

SyrRhys, I'm not basing the breastplate on anything other than my personal preferences. I'm not overly concerned with authenticity as much as getting the thing done for our boffer fighting. What I call my transitional kit is loosely based on a mixture of plate and maille, not on a specific decade. I...

Here are the latest pics showing the progression on my transitionnal kit. I've essentially completed my globose breastplate to a point where I'm satisfied with the shape and finish. It's semi rough, with quite a bit of plannishing done on it. the side, neck and shoulder edges are folded while the ar...

oops, my bad, the 500 pound loads are 24ga SS, not 16ga, though there are some 16ga available too

would the 24ga SS lend itself to lamellar or would that be way too thin? perhapd small scales provided they were creased down the middle?

Chuck D. the struggle lies mainly with teh fact that I don't weld and don't have easy access to someone who welds so my first thought was to add tabs to the metacarpal plate and use that to rivet the 2 pieces together. That idea was discarded when I realized that unless I invest in a shear or a nibb...

Hal, do you have an example of the Y type chin strap you're refering to? I did wear the helm with the coif and with the suspension it's a tight fit, but that's cause of the doubles up layers of leather at the seams of the flaps and suspension brow band, when I replace it I'll probably make it out of...
