As I see it I can't simply omit the foam because the leather itself would be considered "rigid", correct? I think you are going to have to go with the 6' or less option. My understanding of the reasoning for the unpadded >6' rule is to reduce the weight, so your leather head wouldn't fit with that....

With regards to the pins, I used the same rod to bend the stock around to make the knuckles as I did to make the pins from (does that make any sense?).
