Book: Albrecht Durer Waffen und Rustungen (Weapons & Armour)

I was able to pick up Heinrich Muller's Albricht Durer Waffen und Rustungen at what looks like an amazing price. I bought it sight unseen because of the great price it was offered to me at. In addition to the many many Durer works shown there are many other works of art, along with armour and weapon...

For some reason BBCode was not working for a while.
I had the same issue on a post earlier.

It does seem to be working on new posts now.

Malcolm, aside from some pretty good SCA people like Arnora, one of my professional photographers from the magazine was there—Ron Manville. He shoots a lot of living history stuff mundanely. He got about 600 good shots - I've already seen some (wow, some of the best fighting shots I've seen ever). ...

Sir Omarad, Just got my Mandrake tips in the mail. The directions that come with the tips don't seem to match what you said to Aaron. (my Bolding in quotes below) no, all the disks must be in the tip to be legal. Doesn't matter what weapon, follow the directions. I've spoken at length with Windrose ...

Against a shieldman. Get them to charge. Thrust to the face. As they block their vision with the shield circle the polearm around counter clockwise. Hit them in the right side of their head as they drop their shield to peak. Do all of this as you run back-wards to your right. Once perfected this wil...

Re: SS Knute Hauberk for sale $900 obo w/free ship in U.S.

Looking at Kunte's webpage brought a few questions to mind.

1. Is it flat ring or round ring? If round which size?
2. Which shoulder option did you pick? (maybe a photo of it laid out flat would answer this)

Thanks,

Realistically, if the 10,000 hour figure is correct, then I doubt there would be many- if ANY- fighters that have met that mark. You are talking 5 hours a week for 20 years to reach that goal. There are also a whole lot of variables that any hard figure just doesn't take into account. There probabl...

3. A common idea among martial artists of my acquaintance is that it takes about 10,000 reps to get a move into muscle memory (I’m not sure if there is any actual science behind that number or if someone just picked it because it seemed about right). This has a couple implications: first, make sure...

Don't sell me that the planning of swords is only for looks. If you did not feel you were getting some advantage in SCA sport combat you wouldn't keep doing it. Sure you would make one to say it looks like a real sword but if you did’t feel it helped you then you wouldn’t do it for long. This is pu...
