I would even go so far as to say that hand tools are better than power tools for most applications because rattan is so soft, flexible and fibrous. I have given a couple professional wood turners nightmares by handing them a long piece of rattan for their lathes. I don't know about that. The lathe ...

I'm surprised this has not sold. I wonder of people reading it are uninformed about HE's wacko sizing. Maybe change the title to include the word "medium sized" and then explain HE's wacko size chart in your listing? A normal person sees the size 16 (which would be an x-large size in real...

Re: Interesting sallet visor

This is a painting by Matthias Grünewald from 1524 Look at the fellow in the upper left with his visor up. This image is familiar, I seem to recall discussing it before but I can not find any record. If I am not mistaken Matthias Grünewald is responsible for more of the odd armour in art that is ...

The guy in the lower right looks like he is wearing some sort of quilted shirt of some sort, and his fingers look weird. all four of them look like ther are the same length... as for the sallet visor I started to draw and this is what I came up with after a while. <a href="http://s784.photobucket.c...

anyone notice the guy in the lower right has 3 finger gloves with the tips removed; his fingers are sticking out on his right hand holding the polearm. I did notice that as well. I don't think I have ever seen fingerless three finger gloves before. I not sure if that makes sense but I think you kno...

Preliminary Review - SKB hard golf case

I have been looking for a better way to haul my armour and other fighting gear while traveling. Up until now I have used a soft sided golf travel bag with good results. I decided to upgrade to a hard case and the SKB golf cases looked nice and had good reviews. I was leaning toward the deluxe or the...

I know you are asking about real swords but this is all I have to add. I have done several leather grips for SCA swords over the years. My method evolved to almost exactly that of Peter Johnsson as shown in the Bladesmith's Forum Link posted earlier. I like the string wrap under the leather, it does...

Another question, what are your opinions on which is the front and which is the back?

I have seen it depicted both ways and can personally see either one as being possible. I am currently leanind towards the longer brim to the back, the opposite of Irish's drawing.

I would agree with Professor Roger's opinion on this one.
A footman = no but a dismounted man-at-arms / knight = yes.
There is a big difference.

Additional views of Burgundian Kettle at the MET?

Does anyone have any additional views of the Burgundian Kettle at the MET?

I have tons of photos but they all are the same (see link above) due to the way it is displayed. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has other views to share.

Thanks,
