I think your sword is too heavy. Either that or off balance. You're not swinging it, you're throwing it and hanging on once it gets moving. No articulation. Cut it down, take some tape off it. Lighten it or balance it to where it's supple in y9our hand and your fighting will greatly improve. So wil...

While I have not done much hot work my experience with my weed burner has been different. Using only a few bricks I have been able to get up to working temp in less than a minute. This is using a cheap Harbor Freight weed burner. It does use a lot of propane though. I plan on getting an oxy-propane ...

Re: Failed stress test!
Edit: I see Sean posted before I did I have now switched to a cooking oil quench, without temper , and the test pieces seem to hold up much better, with less distortion as well. Does anyone esle do this? No tempering I mean. I know that in Louis' Veg. Oil Thread he states that after quench the 4130 ...

You can see my gear in the top of this thread m and here is a photo someone else posted. Looks like French 2nd half 14th century from the waist up? What are you aiming for? I am not sure if it is documentable but I at this point I would trim/flare the greaves and put mail on the shoes. Look at Mr. ...

What about using mail to fill the gaps?
What does the rest of your rig look like?
What area / time are you targeting?
Take a look at Toby Capwell's Mac suit
Thanks,
Tom

We just bought ours using this link is at the bottom of the quote. For those not familiar with the Frazier here is their web page Today's ...

I think his problem is the mating of the gorget plate and the bevor itself. The shaping of the bevor is great, although it seems to be ever so slightly deeper than the original it is based on, the key however, to how the bevor sits is the lame that sets on the chest itself. . Exactly! The angle bet...

The only setback is that the bevor turned out to be too low, but I'll try to ask if another lame can be added to it, so it'll be turned into a drop down bevor. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v55/kaos333/armour/sallet/DSC_0074.jpg Looking good! Re: Howdy
Enrico I see a sliding rivet at the greave, demi greave joint that lets your foot twist side to side. Am I seeing this right? Anyone else see it? What you are seeing is the pin and key hole slot that connects the greave to the "demi greave". Once these are connected and the strap is buckl...

Also look at Æiric Ørvender's clever use of black tape to give the illusion of a sharp point on his hewing spear.
