Re: Goll's Thesis topic #3: Controversial or Suspicious Item

What about this bevor? I wonder if the outer part is an addition. Seems odd with the slot instead of a pivot. The roll on the top of the inner part makes it seem like originally it did not have anything over it. It also looks like the lames at the bottom don't match up to the inner chin piece. The u...

I'm pretty sure it's not the Toilette Kolbenturnier , because the weapons are not tied to the breastplates. The guy with the bladder crest is a hoot! I guess they thought this tourney form was ludicrous as well, and decorated themselves accordingly. It's like the 15th C version of pool noodle...

Thanks Tom and Mark. My current camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ10 . It seems to have trouble in low light without the flash, but maybe there are settings which can reduce that? Focusing on objects in low light closeup can also be a problem. One thing that can be helpful is a good monopod. Often ...

Lets discuss: Segmented cuisses Italy 1370-85

I could see a bit of movement being possible if the hinges to the solid wrap plates were designed and located correctly. ...

A few comments about using a gas oven for tempering. 1. How accurate is the temperature setting? 2. How tightly is the temp controlled? 3. Re: Dusting off the cobwebs

The first grinding operation differs from all subsequent processes in an important way. It must remove the hammer marks and other small irregularities from the surface. It is a leveling process. This requires an unyielding presentation of the abrasive that will take off the high spots without flowi...

Quite obviously has been mucked around with extensively.
That being said the majority of the main upper plate looks pretty nice, minus the really bad shoulder strap add ons.
Definitely everything below the waist plate is not original or a working life replacement either.
