Re: Opinions on the St George Statue from Château de Seneffe

Someone who really groks French art from this period would be helpful. What about the vertical crease on the couters? This time period is not my strong suit but elbows that look like knees is one of the reenactorisms that we often talk about. I think you are right about the need for a person more i...

There is something about the overall impression I get from this piece that feels off.

I did see this image while doing some other research.
He has what look like rivet heads all along the edges of his knees and elbows.
Are the joints covered metal?
The limbs maybe splinted leather.

Re: Early English Great Bascinet / Cuirass Interface

Thanks for the initial thoughts and brainstorm. My gut feeling is that simple assymetry is the most straightforward solution. This is what I'm thinking based on the input above. If the edge of the overlapping plate sits far enough off center (and we're talking fractions of an inch here I think), th...

Re: Early English Great Bascinet / Cuirass Interface

A few more ideas, which hinge (pun intended ;)) on the overlap design and/or closuer method of the back plate. 1. Design the overlap in such a way that the edge if the outer plate is is not down the center then it would be easy to make an attachment for the strap. Even a small offset would accommoda...
