Great news Mac :D

Good to hear that you should be back in the shop just in time to start pouring molten metal.
Just this morning I noted that it is probably almost time for you to shift gears again.

Re: Pikes & drum in the 14th century

I'd like to emphasize what Wade said about taper. Some years ago, I had the opportunity to handle a 17th C (?) pike at the Royal Armouries, and was surprised at how much effect the taper had on the way the pike felt. I remarked about the taper to the fellow who was showing us around, (I can't recal...

Re: Dusting off the cobwebs

Hope you are back to usual in short order. My surgeon injected the site with a local anesthetic before closing things up, which had given me a rather false sense of well being. That wore off yesterday evening, and I'm moving slowly and painfully now. In a sense, I feel better about the whole thing, ...

Thanks Ideval and Tom! Tom, there's couple of great photos in your album that I hadn't seen before. Especially the pic that shows the helmet from up and behind. I think the last pic shows everything almost fully closed. Visor might be just tad open. Is there or should there be some sort of mechanis...

Here are all of the images I have collected from various sources of KHM A110 Google Drive for - KHM A110 A few things worthy of note: #1 - The bottom lames on the bevor undoubtedly would have originally been on 3 leathers. #2 - The brow reenforce is currently loose and pivots up and down (see photos...

Why did my car have to break down this year? I was saving up for one... Well, I will see if my brother is interested. Re: Goll's Thesis topic #3: Controversial or Suspicious Item

More or less.... probably no earlier than 1400, but perhaps as late as the mid 1430s. Some of the helmets in Pisanello's tourneo batglia are similar, but since he was illustrating Arthurian matter, it's hard to know whether he was depicting "modern" armor or "old" armor. Someone (not me) aught to g...

I have a question: how are most late 16th century (1560+) close helms lined? I want to make one as soon as I finish my gorget, breast and back but have been able to find very little info concerning this topic. maybe this is close enough https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-KyyuEo8WkK8/UOyHenpm3lI/AAA...

Re: Dusting off the cobwebs

Mac, I am curious about your choice of using the center bar for the buckle plate's attachment on the shoulder straps. Most of the seeming extant examples I see in Goll's thesis show the counter intuitive use of one of the end bars. Presumably so the leather strap could tuck neatly under the breast p...
