Re: 14th Century Gauntlet Knuckle plate find
As I look through his list and Goll's photos I realize just how few complete fingers and thumbs from 14th century gauntlets survive. I suppose that we have the Wisby gauntlets as examples of fingers of narrow lames, and the Rippon and Canterbury and Allen fingers as examples of construction with a ...

At least once a month one of these guys contacts me via Facebook. They send photos that they claim are their work. Generally I recognize the item / maker and call them on. Very rarely does that discourage them. They usually claim that they can make one exactly the same or pretend to not understand. ...

Well Mac, I find you grinding technique a bit wimpy. So do I... now  Mac after seeing Owen Bush's modern version of that type of grinder, described as the "scrote grinder" , I'm quite content with using a wimpy vertical linisher. The Met also has a gauntlet with some nice deep points, not quite as extreme as the ones in Madrid.

I like how hap-hazard the incised lines are. Re: Dusting off the cobwebs
I've got some micrographs from Wade's lance arrêt. A-237. There is a small raised rib with roping, edged with two incised lines which appeared to me to have traces of gilding. I'm not positive of the exact area which the micrograph was taken , but it was around one of those ribs. Probably on the hi...

Any interest in waxed hemp arming points w/ brass aglets?
I am contemplating making and selling braided hemp arming points. These would be thoroughly waxed and have brass aglets attached to the ends. I will likely go ahead and make up some to get the time studies needed for pricing. My target price is $3-$4 per point. While this might seem expensive the ma...

Re: Dusting off the cobwebs
I would speculate that if the leg armor becomes malrotated that a small amount of flex in the non primary axis will allow full range of motion. If you flex the knee to 90 degrees and then pronate/supinate the cuise it should rotate the knee and demi-greave in the same direction like a universal joi...

In it's favor; it seems like it works OK ergonomically. The sights line up where they should. The chin of the visor does not get in the way. The visor opens enough. Mac Do the sights line up right? I think that when closed the visor slot is still a bit high. Take another look at these three photos:...
