I just spotted this one on my Pinterest feed it was pinned to a friends board about quivers / bow cases but I spotted the hobnails on the shoe at the top.
I am still backtracking the source.

Mac, It might be good to point out the PPE you are using and it's importance. In at least one photo you don't seem to be wearing any, I am sure that was just to get the photo. It's true. I am not all kitted up in the first photo of the belt sander. By the time I settle in, I am wearing gloves, ear ...

Re: Dusting off the cobwebs

I get solicitations form guys in India on a weekly basis and probably 50% of them include photos of other people's work. Usually I recognize the work and call them on it, most of the time they don't respond. Sometime they acknowledge that it is not their work be they claim to be able to make the sam...

Re: WTB A String of Riveted Maille

Good morning everyone, I am actively saving up to replace my butted aventail with a rivetted one but in the meantime I would like to get a string of 68 rivetted mail links to help suspend the butted aventail. My current aventail keeps slipping off the string that is suspending it. How much would a ...

Re: European riveted mail types and timeline.

Here's an interesting area of Wade's M-15, with Tom's photo of the cuff. M-15cuff.jpg There is a line of ferrous riveted rings running the full length of the border. Imagine a strip of latten rings pre-made and sold for edging cuffs. This example would be demi-riveted, alternating three punched rin...

Re: Gothic codpiece?!

All those pictured don't have tassets. I suspect this related to a fashion trend for young men. The cod cutout is higher, the fault shorter, and lack of tassets exposes that area to greater scrutiny. You could argue these are for greater mobility for foot soldiers, as you also see less articulation...

You are right about the size of the arm opening on this brigandine, they are huge. As to the bottom front edge of the mail, it seems the front stays in place pretty well. The mail being flexible and fabric like only moves when pulled. There is no pull on the bottom front since the arms really only m...

Note that the second layer of mail on Italian style harnesses is due to a curtain of mail attached to the bottom lame of the fauld.

I may have to buy some silk to braid up.
