Unto the populous of Drachenwald do Thorvaldr and Fiona, King and Queen send greetings. It pleases us to announce the following gentles who will be vying for the right to be known as the Heirs to the Black Dragon Throne. Crown Tourney shall take place on the 10th of April A.S. 44 Viscount Arngrim Bj...

I have fought in that. You will find that there are alot of shots that you used to take, that you just don't want to take anymore. the heubergon <sp> steals power away from alot of shots that are the bread and butter shots for some people. You will never feel an armpit shot as good again. Some hip s...

That is simultaneously too wide and too narrow a view. A good shot should be unpleasant when it hits minimal armour or none however If it hits good solid armour ....say.... a globous breastplate I would hesitate to say it should feel at all. WE are after all hitting each other with sticks. I am hard...

I don't quite understand your plans, but I will copy them, and see Let me know what you don't get about the diagram and I will happily explain. I fully understand the design except for the center connection point. is that just two pieces fo 3/4 inch plywood running along both sides or a 3 sided box...

I actually disagree about being just Cardio.. I find it to be more Anearobic. The fights don't really last long enough in a tourney to become an Aerobic endurance test. We use short muscle bursts of energy and quick fast movements. More like a linebacker or halfback really. There are far to many of ...

Due to different constraints I trained for both of my Crown Tourneys differently. The first one I was still working on technique and creating a solid fighting style. One where if I stuck to the basics I felt I could be successful. I sought out some very high level fighters (dukes, counts etc..) and ...

I recently fought at the Insula Draconis Coronet tournament, it was my first big tourney and I had no illusions of winning it. After one of the fights where I won I came off and was told by a knight that I had shrugged off two good thrusts to my visor. I was absolutely stunned, I did not even notic...

I think that you will have to find what works for you. Yes there are some standard sizes, however your own personal body size, movement etc etc will effect the dimensions you need for your shield. I would suggest working with one about the same length and width as your oval just having a different d...

I have been fortunate in that I have only run into 1 person who I thought was rhinoing. After repeatedly hitting him to include creasing his helm in 3 spots I simply allowed him to finally hit me in the face and I walked off the field. In the very next fight that fighter was bested within seconds by...

In Drachenwald any Drachenwald Fighter may fight displaying the kingdom heraldry, they just may not have the crown on it (that is reserved for whomever is the current King) that includes the laurel wreath. It is no different than carrying a baronial shield. as mentioned above however don't use it to...

It should serve as food for thought about the historical role of the duel in society as well. Are you a great war leader? An important member of the community? Will your absence be a hardship for those who depend on you? Tough. Your choice to enter a duel has consequences even beyond your own life ...
