Geez... Interestingly enough, I HAVEN'T been asleep. Against every instinct of my being, I decided to have a litte experiment and see if this type of thread progresses the same whether I post or not, and whether I "edit" or not. I see that the same arguments, perceptions, attitudes, and misinformati...

Gypsy,

I can indeed take Paypal, though if you use a credit card I'll have to charge the nominal (5%, I think?) fee to cover that. What item(s) were you interested in knowing the shipping on?

Buy sword and shield together, free S&H

Folks, Here are some more items I'm clearing out. Buyers to pay shipping. A living history quality shield. This is of poplar plank construction, with a couple of enarmes on the back. I never got around to putting all the finishing touches, but with a little work this would make an incredibly nice di...

Replica Wheellock for sale

This is a Denix (I think) non-firing decorative wheellock; this particular model is I believe out of production. It feels nice in the hand, but isn't even close to a working model. The wood part is wood, the metal parts are cast brass/bronze/zinc stuff; durable yet not steel. I wanted to give the AA...

Bascot, I have no idea; I got them in a batch o' stuff, and was more interested in the "stuff" than the fittings. Tim, very possibly; I can usually tell what is a Norman(ish) design, but beyond that I have no idea. They were sold to me as 'viking', hence my listing them as such. If I have misled, I ...

Currently this forum is a fun one to come and read.... Start slicing away the fun bits, and the bits that dont jive with your idea of how the board should work and it may not be fun anymore. Why do so many people seem to think that being a little more focused, and (gasp!) professional is automatica...

Were back quivers used by any group in Dark Age/Medieval times? I know the hip quivers seemed to be the norm, but for other than open battlefields, ie, in the woods, was the back quiver used? First, shame on you for using the term "Dark Ages"... Second, though conventional wisdom seems to indicate ...

These criteria are too restrictive.... I mean, I want to -- eventually -- use only hand tools and green hardwoods to make furniture, but Jesus! My previous moderator-driven changes to the board have been as minimal as possible, in keeping with the since-the-very-begining tradition of the Archive. Should the RA forum change its focus?

There has been discussion that has popped up, from time to time, concerning what exactly the point of the RA forum should be. So, to get the ideas of the general populous, and mostly to satisfy my own curiosity, please take part in this little poll. It is not binding in any way. And for those who wo...

That's really interesting because weren't the inhabitants of the Holy Land of that time wearing wool? Heck, you've got me; I have no idea. Hooray for Kass's point! The only documentable instance I can think of where linen may be substituted for wool is in the Templar order, that allows linen mantles and tunics to help with the "heat of the Holy Land". I won't dare guess how far this can be taken in-period though, and will leave that to...
