Will second what Saint-Sever said. I guess part of my acceptance of CA, is due to most of the folks I know, who do it, play it on a scale as Tim does, so its easier for me to accept them on the field as one of my comrades. But like Saint-Sever said also, the ones who are the ones who want to play De...

InsaneIrish and others who have mentioned this. It really for some does come down to just that. Its how you view what we do at battles. Do you view it as a grand melee or a war. Honestly, if I viewed it as a grand melee, I can positively say, I would be against any form of CA on the field. But since...

Here are my thoughts on this stuff. And actually no, I dont think its a dead horse, cause if it was, folks wouldnt be so passionate about it on both sides. I enjoy CA on the battlefield. I dont do it, and have actually only done it twice, once when I was 3 days old in the SCA, and Kane wanted me to ...

When I used to fight in a klapvisor, the first time I fought in it was hilarious. Was doing well, played my normal game, and legged the guy. Hmm, where did he go now. Basically, I used to say, I used the force. I had no idea where my oponnent where, when they went to their knees half the time, and j...

Yep, I think over the 18 years I have been fighting, I have seen 3 arm breaks, all forearm. Each time, was someone not wearing a vambrace, and also each time, their arm got in the way of a body shot coming in. One of the folks posts here that I know of. If I remember right, she wasnt wearing the vam...

To be honest, I love the SCA for what it is. Its a melting pot of cultures. I would like to see some rules gotten rid of, like wounds to arms and legs, and would rather see a counted blow system be the norm. Other than that, I am pretty happy. Only other thing I would like to see, is maybe kits bein...

Interesting question, and well will be honest. If it wasnt for the fighting, I probably would not be here. Granted, the SCA has lots more than the fighting to offer. The Society as a whole is outstanding, and everything that makes up the SCA, is fantastic. But what got me into doing this, and not go...

For me, I have always been a sporadic SCA player. Not till the last two years, when I was trying to help their Graces Malcolm and Tessa, during their first reign, then a little here and there when I was around their second reign. Realized a few years ago why. When I first started playing SCA, I was ...

Sweet and good luck, Olafr. I should be there, but I wont be fighting. Wife, being the smart one of our bunch, has decreed, that till our finances are better, and running a reign wont kill us, I am not allowed to fight in them anymore. We could pull a reign off, it would just hurt us, and well we ha...

What I used to do in the past, till I let myself get lax and stopped working at it, and what I have started getting back into the last month, cause well, when I step on the scale and see myself the heaviest I have ever been, I was well, disgusted. My non-fighting training, is a very modified way of ...

Over the years not a lot has changed for me. I started to fight, cause 1. I finally found a place, where my liking the roman to middle ages wasnt looked upon as weird. 2. It beat sitting at a table for hours roleplaying with a bunch of guys who never played a sport in their life, but thought they kn...

I'm glad this topic popped up, cause I was a curious on how some laurels thought on stuff like this. Besides that, this is my next endeavour in the SCA. I have made armor on occassion, my old helm I had made, that his Grace Michael of Bedford helped me with. But I would like to do more with it. A lo...

Dear Baron, have to admit, that was one of the first things that popped into my head also when I read that. As Dante said, if you have the folks, start it back up if you want to. If you have fighters there, they will show up. Though there will be plenty of nights were you show up and no one else wil...

Yeah, that one guy vs Tower and Steven is Ardenn Scot of Clan Scot, and is one of Duke Malcolms squires. Under Unknown Fighters, the fighter to the right, is Master Valgardr from Misty Highlands. The guy on the left, I do not know. The other unknown fighters I am not sure I have ever seen before. Ho...

Yeah, spent a few weeks trying to figure out how I was going to do a gorget. Was going to try the red neck scarf around something, like I have seen in statues and such. Also read some things, that it could be possible, that when the romans left, and even while thier, some of the britons might of wor...

Wait list, I just happened to catch at right time, cause Count Morgan was doing a patch of gauntlets, which he normally doesnt do, and wanted to know if I wanted to get in on it, when he started them, so was only on it for a month or so. This doesnt work for everyone, well maybe it would, but well all I know is it works for me, and the two people who taught me how to fight Great Weapon. 1 - Never throw a maiming shot. Every shot you throw, is a kill. 2 - Make sure your shot hurts. Make him understand, if he throws, you will be throw...

Review - DarkHeart Armory - Stealth Gauntlets
Was a pleasure dealing with Count Morgan. Emails were always returned in a timely manner, and always kept me in the loop on progress. Product is perfect, and everything I expected and more. Granted, will take me some time to get used to fighting with them, but will be well worth it. Here is a pic of...
