Looking for Lorica Hamata
Hi folks, have not convinced myself I want to purchace this yet, but figured I would do the leg work now.
Anyone know of anyone who makes this? Doesnt need to be stainless, but at least needs to be riveted.
I would be using it for SCA combat, if I got it.
Thanks for any help.

I think Richard nailed it on the head for me. If neither combatants have a problem with the fight, then well the rest can please move along, nothing to see here. I dont like arm-chair fighters. Now if one of the opponents have a problem, it needs to be dealt with it then and there. Not whined about ...

And are you sure that who said the rationalle actually said it? Honestly, I would like to keep this kind of stuff off here, if we can. Unless you see it first hand, and then hear it first hand, I just am not going to put much credence into it. Have seen way to many people, get dragged thru the mud, ...

Actually I agree with Nissan, that would suck ass. Sorry, coming up the ranks, I wanted to take on the dukes, and some of my best tourney memories come from beating them in big tourneys, while I was a squire. If this would of been in place I would of never gotten that chance. Then again, it is my op...

Granted these are all my SCA fighting resolutions. I have a bigger list. 1. Drop some serious weight. Goal is a pound a week, so that would be 52 pounds. And that still wouldnt get me to were I need to be, but its one hell of a way to start. 2. Get my kit up to snuff enough to show up to the Warrior...

Sorry, not going to call someons shot flat. Its either light or good, if its flat, thats for the marshall or the fighter himself to let me know. I watch the opponents shoulders and hands, but I dont fixate on them. I try to watch several things. If I am concentrating enough to see the guys hand is s...

Yep, to SyrRhys question, Logan summed it up nicely for me. I am not saying I take light, I just take what I consider a good shot. But I try to throw harder than that, to leave no doubt, which unfort, I am not always true at, which has cost me a tourney or two. Only time, I might take lighter than w...

All I can do is control myself. Maybe one of the reasons, I dont run into anything, is I usually hit plenty hard enough for most, and well on things like interkingdom stuff, I actually lower my acceptance level. Honestly, last thing I want to do, is ruin someone elses fun. Is it totally correct, pro...

Lol, Robyn, wish I had old pics of me in my carpet armor, and heck, that was back in 89 when I first joined, and Kane was just trying to get me in some armor quick. Heck my first armor, was carpet body armor, and aluminum legs and arms, that Kane and I bent to some what form on the backsteps of our ...

Looks good Malcolm. How does it do on the tourney field? And yes I mean in the competitive sports field we play in, not the historic replica field. If you and Eldred are doing spring steel for a lot of your gear, it might actually end up working better than the ABS stuff. Specially since it will let...

Its my job to throw a good hard blow, its my opponents job to decide if thats good enough. Its not my job to question my opponents call. I dont think I have ever ran into what one would call a rhino in a tournament. Have I ran into them in melee, maybe, but that could also be someone inexperienced i...

Now ...

Yeah, how I was taught to do it, was always throw in unknown factors in the fight, but you are reacting to it for the block, plus do multiple fights to not get yourself in a pattern. Plus, for the unknown fighter, do a fighter in prestine gear, and a fighter in total sports gear that looks like crap...

Yep, pretty much verbatim what Robin said. Specially the part of dont let someone guilt you into taking a shot you dont think is good. How high are your ceilings and what kind of budget do you have? Have 2 different type of portable pells I use. One is also better on noise than the other. 1. 7' pole cemented into a 2' x 2' x 2' flower pot. Can easily move into a closet to get it out of the way. Hammer in some carpet pieces to help ...

Dante, I have had the older version of that for about 10 years. Mine has a thin bit of plastic with the padding. I loved it when I used to wear mine, before I had got the aventail for my old bascinet. Granted, with the new helm I am getting a gorget from Torvaldr, but for a while I was debating on w...

Ok, for the life of me, I can not find this anywhere. I know its out there somewhere, but cant find it. Maybe just looking to fast, but have gone thru Corpora and my Kingdom law, and I just cant find it. Basically, I am talking about, what are the items that one of the Chiv can wear, to signify they...

Have to agree with Raito. I am another one of those, that a fencing helm can be just as jarring as a fencing mask, in some cases. For me, if the overall outfit goes well with the fencing helm, then it is pleasing to the eye. If it does not, then it is just as out of place as a fencing mask. Just cau...

I believe its not allowed, and I am not sure if by doing so, that if the stick broke, that it would not maintain the reason why we use rattan, and that it would actually end up having jagged points, once broken. Havent tried it to see if thats the case, just making a guess, thats what would happen i...
