I had an aluminum rivetted chainmail skirt once. Fought one practice and it was destroyed. Granted this was like 10 years ago, so maybe they are designed better. But I wouldnt hold my breath.

Yep, he was promoting his organization to the masses. And well now a days, thats what folks want. Look at a lot of your modern day popular sport athletes. A lot of them come across very aggressive. Special the contact sports like football, mma or boxing. I liked both segments. Wish they would of spe...

Re: Pre fighting warm ups
We just had a Gold Chain here in AEthelmearc, kind of along the lines of other kingdoms TOC's. One of the classes we did before we started fighting, was taught by Duke Marcus, on the importance of stretching and he walked us thru a bunch of stretching. Then after we got done fighting for the day and...

Re: Pics that would inspire new guys. (UPDATE 8/31/2011)
Here is a better pic of the new kit, though this shield is shorter now, to conform to our Crown rules, though to be honest, after looking at a bunch of effigies for 1250 - 1275, the shorter one is actually more correct. I found more shields that were shoulder to mid-thigh, than anything else. And th...

Who sells Aluminum shields?
I know Icefalcon and Windrose does, but I knew there were a few others that I cant remember, and wanted to update my database, plus looking to buy a rectangular shield for myself maybe.
Thanks

Re: WTS/T - Stainless pin rivetted Icefalcon Voiders - $200
Added in I would consider trades also, mainly maybe gauntlets. I prefer clamshell style, like Bokalo Manatee or Andy Ward style. Though if someone had a used pair of gauntlets that looked like fingers, but were mitten, I might think about it also. Also would consider a rectangular shield, 22x30 of t...

Sold - Stainless pin rivetted Icefalcon Voiders - $150
Bought these from Jonathan, when he was selling his maille to save up for the wedge rivetted stuff. Well my brain wasnt working right, and was thinking these were full sleeves, cause well I am an idiot. To be honest, a friend of mine and I were talking early in the week and were talking about full s...

WTS - Books on Gladiator fighting
I was doing some research on gladiators and messed with a kit for a month, but well though the books are excellent, really dont need them, so looking to get rid of them, hopefully in one whole bunch, really dont want to sell piecemeal. So first options will be to people who want all of them, after a...

Re: Health and Fitness in SCA Combat
Only way you can use it to keep you in shape, is if you designed your practices to be like rounds in boxing and mma, and force yourselves to fight not just stand across from each other for 2 and a half min with 30 seconds of actual fighting. And I am not really sure that would be good enough, but it...

A lot of folks have mentioned some good guys, Jackie has always been a good one for me. I like both Max, I like the second one better, mainly due to the reasons Tascious mentioned. As far as Logan's points. I agree we should not just be targeting game stores, though every major friend I have in the SCA, thats how they got in, including me. But why stop there, like he said, skate parks ...

Yeah ours is basically, put your sheild in your armpit, and your middle finger needs to reach the end. Granted, i am actually luckier than most, it seems for my height, I have longer arms than most.

Re: Different shield shapes in 13th Century Europe
Thanks folks for your advise so far. One of the reasons I am looking, is I am planning on starting to fight our Crowns again, and often enough we have a shield size rule in place. Normally its you have to be able to span your shield length wise and width wise, and cant use bigger. So in my case 30 t...

Different shield shapes in 13th Century Europe
High folks, looking for some advise on different shield shapes for my 13th century kit. For narrower time period, here is my current kit, below. I know the heater shield started coming into play at this time, and the kite shield was ending its days. Not sure of any other shapes. Have read quadrangle...

Hi folks, had a pair from Therion, but got rid of them. I will be wearing them over my plastic legs, so they actually dont need to be heavily padded either.
