Re: How high-impact is heavy list, medically speaking?
Wont give any advice, cause not a doctor, but head shots are common in our sport just like kickboxing and boxing, ice hockey not as much, so well there is that. But question I have for ya, is do you have a smart phone, if you do, you probably have internet connection, or better yet, can hook it up t...

Re: Looking for a shield
magnus, talk to one of the Northern Cross guys and see if you can get Sir Reinhardts info. He made a shield a little like that one, I think he only had 3 bends in his though, cant remember exactly.

I was actually shocked last weekend when I went to Bears. I live 3 miles from where I work, so I pretty much walk to work everyday. If I drive at all, its to the bottom of the hill on bad days, which cuts out half a mile. So I normally get gas maybe once or twice a month for the jeep. Was a little s...

LOL, not saying that DMofB can't hit you so hard that ones head might pop off like a dandy lion, just that he always hits with authority at the level of the person he is fighting. A skill I have in my short 3 years of fighting found to be somewhat hit or miss in the newer knights. Lol, as one of hi...

Also, depends on were you live. In certain areas, mild would need very little upkeep. Still would need to do so, but just a good wipe down after fighting and then put away. In other areas, such as high humidity areas, well you could put a nice shiny set of legs away and come back the next week and l...

I have a list. One is for guys in my kingdom, and one is guys out of kingdom. Guys out of kingdom will always trump guys in kingdom, since I see them more. So at kingdom stuff will hunt down those on my list. At Blackstone, War practice, Northern Oaken and Pennsic, I hunt down those on my out of kin...

I like this list more than the others. This one is just personal, so I dont have to keep thinking about who I am leaving out. 1. Jarl Black Kane O'Shannon - My brother, in every way but blood. He has more to do with how I am in the SCA than anyone else. Screw the politics, if your not having fun, yo...

In our area, I would say Sir Alonzio and Sir Tristan. I have seen those two just walk a bridge to many times. Personally I hate fighting the damn thing, not against it, I mean fighting it. I'm a grunt, I like my shield and I like my crashing. But I do love being spear bait, specially when I have spe...

First time since April being able to fight seriously
Just wanted to pop on here, since I know some of you have asked in the past how the shoulder was doing. Today was first time since the Bearpit Friday night at Blackstone Raids(end of April), since I was able to actually fight seriously and with little pain. I tore my shoulder muscle in it, and well ...

I agree, Olafr. But they wanted 5, and I hadnt seen Khalek fight since his shoulder surgery, mainly cause when he got better from his, I tore mine. But he was definetly one of the ones on my top list. As was Christopher. His Highness is still one of my favorite fights. Our styles compliment each oth...

Hmm in AEthelmearc a lot of our top guys are right there with each other, so for me to narrow it down to 5 is hard, since there are more than 5. But if these 5 showed up to a Crown I was fighting in, they would be the ones I would expect to see at the top. Duke Maynard Duke Malcolm Count Robin Duke ...

The shot was good, if it was as said. The marshal handled it wrong. I understand him stepping in for a sec, he did that right. But what he should of said, was that he saw the shot hit your opponents sword first, but was not sure if what went thru to your opponent was good enough or not, then ask you...

I actually prefer the manatee over the Cat's Ass, but thats cause my old set of gauntlets had the same type of thumb on it, and I just like it better. The ones that tend to form for the thumb still end up stinging, where that design, pretty much takes your thumb out of the equation and I rarely get ...

havent been since Gulf Wars 3, but from everything I hear from my friends that still go, is nothing has changed as far as folks attitudes. Very relaxed and a good time. I was referring to I think back in 92 or 93, cant remember which, I know Duke Malcolm has a pic somewhere, of us fighting in almost 3 feet of snow for an Ice Castle. Then that Sunday, Sir Christian, Sir Roland and a bunch of us, decided to play king of the mountain...

Yeah its why I normally go to Shamrock, over the past years, he has always gone out of his way to make sure I am happy with anything I have bought from him. I really like the lines on that helmet, Clang. I think my next helmet will be something along those lines. I believe that falls in line with 13...

Shamrock made it, it is based off my old Bedford helm. The helm basically is designed to were you really dont need a chinstrap. Are you able to put close cell foam in that area, thats whats supposed to be there to rest on the chin. Its actually supposed to rest and touch the chin with the padding th...

If I thought back on any issues I have had over the years, this would probably stand up. Its not that all noncontact folks have issues, I think its that when there are issues, the one who seems to have it, comes from a non-contact background. I did wrestling, center and noseguard in football, martia...
