Re: How high-impact is heavy list, medically speaking?

Wont give any advice, cause not a doctor, but head shots are common in our sport just like kickboxing and boxing, ice hockey not as much, so well there is that. But question I have for ya, is do you have a smart phone, if you do, you probably have internet connection, or better yet, can hook it up t...

I was just kind of curious if he had looked around a typical SCA event. :) He probably just described the majority of them also. :)

From the outside, our hobby is just as weird as those others, heck, even more so, when you think of the amount of money we spend on it, compared to them.

I was actually shocked last weekend when I went to Bears. I live 3 miles from where I work, so I pretty much walk to work everyday. If I drive at all, its to the bottom of the hill on bad days, which cuts out half a mile. So I normally get gas maybe once or twice a month for the jeep. Was a little s...

LOL, not saying that DMofB can't hit you so hard that ones head might pop off like a dandy lion, just that he always hits with authority at the level of the person he is fighting. A skill I have in my short 3 years of fighting found to be somewhat hit or miss in the newer knights. Lol, as one of hi...

Also, depends on were you live. In certain areas, mild would need very little upkeep. Still would need to do so, but just a good wipe down after fighting and then put away. In other areas, such as high humidity areas, well you could put a nice shiny set of legs away and come back the next week and l...

I have a list. One is for guys in my kingdom, and one is guys out of kingdom. Guys out of kingdom will always trump guys in kingdom, since I see them more. So at kingdom stuff will hunt down those on my list. At Blackstone, War practice, Northern Oaken and Pennsic, I hunt down those on my out of kin...

He has more to do with how I am in the SCA than anyone else. Screw the politics, if your not having fun, yo...

Yep, see ya there. I dont think you and I have ever fought katana on katana. I know we have done two sword on two sword and my sword and shield against your two sword. But dont think we have katana on katana, which is my favorite form.

We might need to remedy that. :)

First time since April being able to fight seriously

Just wanted to pop on here, since I know some of you have asked in the past how the shoulder was doing. Today was first time since the Bearpit Friday night at Blackstone Raids(end of April), since I was able to actually fight seriously and with little pain. I tore my shoulder muscle in it, and well ...

I agree, Olafr. But they wanted 5, and I hadnt seen Khalek fight since his shoulder surgery, mainly cause when he got better from his, I tore mine. But he was definetly one of the ones on my top list. As was Christopher. His Highness is still one of my favorite fights. Our styles compliment each oth...

Hmm in AEthelmearc a lot of our top guys are right there with each other, so for me to narrow it down to 5 is hard, since there are more than 5. The shot was good, if it was as said. The marshal handled it wrong. I understand him stepping in for a sec, he did that right. I actually prefer the manatee over the Cat's Ass, but thats cause my old set of gauntlets had the same type of thumb on it, and I just like it better. The ones that tend to form for the thumb still end up stinging, where that design, pretty much takes your thumb out of the equation and I rarely get ...

Yeah, I know Duke Michael of bedfords used to not have that bottom part on the weapons rack and we would always come out and find the weapons on fallen over and such. Then he added that bottom part and made a world of difference. Specially with spears and long polearms.

It wouldnt be to hard to adjust to individuals, I've made enough sets for myself and fluctuated weight and had to make adjustments.
