A bevor with a kettle helm would be; while a bit rare, historic.

I have no idea how working it out with a grill and bevor would be done exept to say it can be done. Your range of movemt might be limited a bit but kettles give good vision without much movement of the head anyways.

I went to an Orthopedic Surgeon today for an evaluation of pain I’ve been having in my right hip. As was suspected I have mild osteoarthritis in that hip and while I don't need any operation the pain is something I'm just have to live with for the rest of my life . To help prevent it from getting ...

Kettle helms were sometimes worn over bassinette helms like in the rub above... other kettles, like mine shown blow, combined the two helm designs to get the best of both worlds... glance and brim cover. If you took a bassinette helm design and added a brim to it like in the fist picture you'd have ...

I too have heard this story from several sources in the SCA and I suspect there is some credence to it. Guys like Nissan have been in the SCA since the mid to late 70’s and I pretty sure they started with the 2 inches above the top of the knee rule. So if they did have total leg targeting it was b...

The above posts are correct: any contact with a live siege rock/bolt/projectile is death. I assume "rocks" thrown from trebuchets or catapults are live till they stop bouncing around... The bolt that hit your foot would have torn or cut it off... a rock would crush it; so your considered &...

You can tie a cord to the square D ring so you can find it easier under your chin. Actually the little men on my shield were painted on by some of the guys in my household while I was out doing other stuff at Pennsic as a joke: a fun bunch of fellows they are. I liked the humor so I left it on. Little swearing guys aside the rest is what I wanted as my device.

I don't care too much about heraldry and even though I did follow some of the basic rules (of heraldry) I pretty much put on my shield what I wanted.

I think my device is bad assed by the way; swearing little guys falling off the castle tower being destroyed by the chaos symbol and all... 8)
