Thanks for the help. So I'll soak my leather, finish the edges, tool it and tack it onto the built up plaster mould and put it in the oven? does this sound about right? and I dye before the oven correct? Another question about plaster- how would I make both a posative and negative mold? would I just...

As for documentation- that's exactley what I'm doing- taking several effigies of the time and combining them. of course gonna make sure it's accurate. I would not be seen with inaccurat...

Hi all, I'm about to start work on some early 14th century leather armour. I am goin to be hardening it in an oven. now for the greaves- I want them to be very form fitting, so I was thnking to make Plater of Paris mold to my leg. can any of you give any insights on how to do this? okay- so costrel it is. another quetion for the armour though. if I'm going to be hardeinging and using metal splints, I don't have to use heavy 15oz leather correct? I could probably get by with something like, 5-7 oz? this would be for just the arms and the legs. I guess I'm not basing this on a p...

When looking for a stop-rib en français, try for lisière d'arret. Ahh, that's how it's spelled. I can't spell for beans . for the finger bucklers (which may or may not be accurate) you can spiff em up by adding brass pattern cut outs riveted to the steel. or like what I'm doing- gonna roll the ed...

First of all great choice of century -what kind of bascinet are you making? a klappvisor, or sidemounted? -elbows/rerbrace/vambrace- look at the Churburg 13/18 for the arms. you can use the basic pattern for it and modify it to suit your needs. many of the 14th cent arm harnesses you see on the feil...

About felt (hats) it can be stretched and formed. so with a hat like that you can corm differnt shapes, differnt brims- there are a lot of possibilities that you can do with a hat like that.
