I WAS the student showing up in the expensive wool t-tunic when I started. My first SCA activity was the local twelth night potluck. I had sewed a plain muslin undertunic (I couldn't find any linen in December and this was before the internet) and a wool overtunic. I had financed it working at Burge...

What is the correct path when faced with such a decision? Is it dishonorable to not give them your best? Is it dishonorable to demolish them? I don't think these are even concerns. I don't think anyone has a problem with you dispatching said opponent quickly. BUT I do think if the guy hits you in t...

We won't go to fighting to submisision simply because then too many would be going to the hospital. Most regular fighters can continue despite massive amounts of pain. Hell lots of us can continue with significant injury. Many of us are fighting injured already. Recently, I was considering that perh...

How many eight thousand dollar kits do you see on the field? You have eight in your bike, how much do you have in you SCA kit? I've easily spent well over $10,000 on armour. Unfortunately, most of it was an absolute waste of money on items that never arrived, didn't fit, didn't actually function, o...

I can tell you love her by the way you have armoured her. One thing I can suggest is to make sure her shoulder / arm armour combo permits her to put her sword back on her shoulder for max power generation and to make sure her vambrace is short enough it doesn't jam up against her hand protection whi...

At the rate it is not selling, it looks like it is still going to be here. Also I edited above to add that: I'm trying to sell this sword to fund the purchase of household assets, including awesome squire regalia or just acquire household assets and regalia -- All 14th century stuff. I am also in th...

Del Tin 2123 St. Galgano (12th Century)
I have a gently used Del Tin 2123 circa 1995. It has not yet been sharpened. I will include a wooden scabbard with it. It was my intent to cover the scabbard with leather and rig for wearing, but then the one true century caught my attention... I would like to get $250 + actual cost of shipping. Wil...

It depends on factors discussed above. If you didn't discuss delivery time in advance of the order, you just learned a huge lesson about buying made to fit armour. It took 7 months for a pair of custom clamshells I bought in the late 1990s from Red Falcon. Custom = fit me. That was due to the queue....

Who has in stock shield baskets?
I need a shield basket AKA shield handle/hand protection for a right handed shield. Who actually has them and won't have me waiting on backorder for months? Will consider all types of construction (alum, mild, stainless, etc) Info available on size / dimensions ever better. Thanks! -Jess

SCA combat is different. It is difficult and painful. It takes years to get good at it. In some areas it takes significant time in order to even develop the technique and conditioning to deliver good solid blows. If you stick with SCA combat long enough, you will sustain crippling chronic injuries. ...

I don't want any aluminum clamshells. Do you do aluminum cuisses? They will be covered by leather so finish and polish is unimportant. I would send you a plastic cuisse to copy. I would want you to make the cuisse and wrap plate out of aluminum. That's all. I would then get the cuisse from you, cove...

Look, people here will not consider that some guy used excessive force to break someone regardless of the armour worn. If you were wearing steel vambraces you would just get more creative explanations about catastrophic molecular failure or other BS. Why? Because saying you can be hit too hard while...

No visible blue plastic. All the barrel plastic people I know cover it anyway. They seem to be able to get over this minimal requirement with minimal effort. Excluding those people who are unwilling to cover it for whatever reason does not concern me in the least. Please make it so, your Excellency.

I don't know what the period mechanism is for closing them. I used a hook and loop to close the one I wore for the 30. They stay up because of human anatomy. They sit on your hips right above where your (or at least my) thigh muscle projects outwards. It should work for you based on what I've seen. ...

...I'm wondering how your demi greaves work? It looks like they stick out from your legs a bit? Does this ever make them catch when walking? They do not catch while walking, but they do not fit well either. These are an inexpensive off the rack sized set of legs/greaves I purchased used from anothe...
