Oh yeah! My current project is just to use the crappy search function on this thing and read every post she has ever made and follow every link she has ever posted. I think it will take me about a month.
Karen, thank you for everything you do.

Vendel Era info
Where do I look to find info on Vendel Era soft kit/material culture? I realize that's hundreds of years. So maybe closer to 8th century?
But I don't know enough yet to be asking a more specific questions.
Thanks!

I was concerned that it appeared to be one solid piece from high neck to below the crotch. I was thinking it would be difficult to move the head, look around, bend, twist, (and if solid breast cups were added depending on how much of the breast they covered) move the arm across the chest. Depending ...

Jess Vitus's squire I think she bought it for her, might have been for someone else. I bought it for me, but it was too flat. I seem to be a little more... 3D? rounder?... than you. Sure fits my boss though. I knew you made it but didn't realize you were making stuff for other people. So you intere...

I'm working on modifying a small one right now. I can't tell if it doesn't work off the rack because I am just much smaller with different proportions as a woman or if it is just a weird fit. So far, I have chopped about 3 inches off the sleeve length, have taken in the giant tall collar (and I have...

Sixtus, no pirates were harmed. But it wasn't in jest or good fun. This was my third consecutive war this decade, so I recall it would have been at least the third such interruption during Midrealm court. My recollection is that the interruptions seemed to be (I assume accidentally) timed during pee...

Linens get machine washed every time I wear them. Colors are hung up to dry (makes for fewer wrinkles for some reason). I bleach all whites, especially the fighting kit and throw them in the dryer too. This will shorten their life, but I don't care. I am not into recreating BO or grass stains on my ...

Rustoleum experiment on mild camail
My blackened mild camail rusted like crazy and I was less than enthused at the prospect of having to remove the rust and blackened finish and redo it every couple of months. So I sprayed it with Rustoleum Rust Reformer. The can was about $4. It made the rust turn black and it does not get your hands...

I do not know enough about your combat style to know what's suitable. If it is similar to SCA rattan combat, the best source for off the rack woman size clamshell gauntlets is Blue Monkey. Mild is about $100 and it has a nice smash proof thumb. Stainless is more. You can contact the owner through he...

Please post pics with a view of the visor, the helmet from the front, and a side view. SCA, right? Is it mild or stainless? What gauge? I think it's the gesso that makes the repair more likely to be successful, assuming you gesso it when you paint the shield the first time. I put the 3M adhesive spray on and smooth it down. Hand sew it closed. Smear gesso on (the cheaper, more plastery the gesso, the better) the seam and smooth it d...

Too hot. I usually get those symptoms but with a headache too. I've had some luck with taking otc naproxen sodium a couple of hours before fighting or immediately after. I think Blue Monkey makes the best SCA clamshells for the price. Also, they make a variety of sizes, including some even too small for my hands. (Not sure how old or big your newphew is, but you don't seem old enough to have an 18 year old newphew so...) I bought a pair of their mild and then later ...

Slow down! You are not required to fight with a basket hilt. You could fight with clamshells and a cross hilt. But I wouldn't do that to start because I need my grip for power generation. At 125 pounds you may too. My really good advice is not to buy anything else right now until you get the rest of...

You may want to hang out a bit before you start buying. You post is confusing to me, and it makes me think you want to take your time to see what you really need first. If you are going to be fighting SCA sword and shield, and your sword is going to have a basket hilt, then you may not want clamshel...

Peppovitch, I think Blue Monkey makes the best SCA clamshells for small hands. I am a woman that wears a womans XL glove size/small mens glove. I have very long fingers but my hands are just not very thick so I otherwise require custom made hand protection. I wear a size small in their gaunts. I bou...

I despise tourneys that require a consort. I once seriously considered hiring a homeless man for this purpose before deciding that the ladies of the gallery would probably want to murder me for it. So I'm sympathetic. Does she have to be present? If not, and if you can't find a more convenient solut...
