Seems to me it may be a good idea to call a local jeweler? Or ask one when you're going in to get your ring sized?

No, they're talking about a commercial where there's a couple talking about charging crap to their card, then hoards of armoured barbarians come, find the couple used whatever credit card, then scream, "to the neighbors!!!" I saw that helm and thought the same thing http://www.armourarchive.org/ubb/...

Clamp the band down to the top. Drill/punch a hole through both. Put a bolt through that hole. Drill/punch another hole. Bolt it. Work your way down the band, making sure that the band lays flat against the helm (no bunching), and always have a couple holes bolted near whatever hole you're drilling.

IIRC, period maille was like that. It used lighter links where less protection or more mobility was required, like the arms...

Think that was posted by Steve (SoFC)...

Ringing ears isn't really a sure-fire way to tell if you're damaging your hearing. 4 hours of continuous, or nearly continuous 90dB noise is enough to cause permanent damage. 90dB is loud enough to have to shout over to be heard. Decibles are measured exponentially, so adding a few more decibles to ...

#1: Get some hearing protection, or start taking sign language classes now. I suggest a pair of good earmuffs rated around 27 to 30dB, or the E.A.R. brand yellow cylindrical earplugs. If your ears still ring with one, get the other, and wear double hearing protection. Pay attention to the instructio...

Don't worry, Ceawlin, its very rare that I can afford such a purchase... Hope for your sake that such a deal comes around again.
I want that info, Konall, that's $1 cheaper than from RW/Pexto's site (and I'm not sure those are for the #8 anyway).

Take one of the gorget patterns off the pattern archive, make it out of 8oz+ leather, cut 4-10 plates each for the bib and back, if neccesary dish them, and rivet them in. Cut out a few plates for the neck, curve them, and rivet them in. Keep a bit of distance between plates, and between plates and ...

Vlad, I had the same thought... friend of mine is always planning to make maille curtains, but never has... Matt -- I'd buy them because with 1' patches, you can bang 90% of a hauberk together in about an hour... so what if it makes tailoring difficult? Measure yourself, and if its too big, take out...

Lord Charles, try http://www.dotster.com
You can transfer your domain to them, and they'll give you a year for $11.95. They register names for $14.95/yr, do DNS hosting for $10/yr. URL forwarding is $5/yr, or free with a banner (probably popup. pay the $5)

This helm isn't made even CLOSE to spec... the oculars look too big, the steel is 18ga, and I seriously doubt it would pass the "hand on grille and push" test.
