Re: God Damn Stainless...

As said get a punch.. If you are short on cash check Ebay or you can get a chinese knockoff at Harbor Freight ( I got mine there and it works fine ). For driliing stainless the recommend Titanium bits are nice, but what you really need are the Cobalt bits. Like the Ti bits they have a golden color. ...

Re: how come the back of the thighs wernt protected on knigh

Here is my horse from last years show season. From this picture, he has grown half a hand, and has increased his muscle mass considerable. This is our trainer riding him. Not as heavy built as many of the horses I see in the jousting circuit, but I bet he could do the job just fine. And on a real ba...

Gwen, I'm pretty sure the OP's question was fully answered in the thread, and no one minds the talk about horses. I think a lot of us find this subject very entertaining :) Wow... Hawthorne is really short barreled. I'm not familiar with the term "Cobb" what is that? A draft breed? My horse experien...

Ok, as long as you are not picky about when I collect. I come up to the Northeast about once a year to Windsor CT for my job, and I could come over to Boston afterwards on my dime.

I'll go $80.

Sorry to ruin your work :( That helm fit me better than any helm I've ever owned. And I bought it here from an auction from some guy...

Yes, I understand. :) Not that I have anything against Friesans. If anything, I think they are great horses, and my wife who rides competitively (American Saddlebreds) really likes them. Much of the Saddlebred community dabbles in Friesans as a sideline. Lately I've really fallen in love with Lusita...

Quick! Put it up on ebay as a "find"! That was my first thought, too. Strangely enough, even though I wanted too scream, that came to my mind immediately too. Hmmmm.... if I bury it in the backyard for a few months to get some "authentic" red rust on it. I could probably make enough on Ebay to buy ...

Re: Epic.. EPIC Kiln - Case Hardening Failure (lots of pics

Guys.... Cherry Red or equivalent, will not get the depth needed to significantly harden a 14 gauge helm for our purposes, or I would have used it. It would barely harden the first few thousandths of an inch. Trust me. I've talked to the professionals on this one. You have to go to an industrial sho...

So at this point I'm feeling very disappointed and sorry for myself. I've ruined a very special and extremely difficult to replace helm. kiln_8.jpg kiln_9.jpg Then you add the sealed container into the kiln, and heat to between 1800-1900 F for between 4 to 12 hours depending on a number of factors, but primarily the desired case hardened depth. For 14 gauge steel, at 12 hours, theoretically you should reach near or total penetration...

And then I placed the helm in a steel container, surrounded by high quality charcoal with 1/10th by weight added, baking soda. The container is then sealed with modeling clay so that no oxygen can get into the container.

Teach your daughter the art of the knife in close..... :D It will serve her well in her life.

No insult intended, but I always recommend a south american or a phillipino teacher for knife fighting in close. They are the masters of the art !
