I have had decent luck with liquid floor wax, such as johnson's. You have to be careful, because too much will harden it. It is similar to resolene but cheaper.

How about using the greave as a mold and using RTV silicone to make an inside mold. Definitely will not be cheap, but it will be exact.

this is alittle off the topic, but is there an easy way to pick up road signs for cheap or free? just go to VDOT and ask for signs that are no longer needed? There a load of web sites out there that do a great job explaining the complete process. I am way to impatient (at this point) to do rivetted, but I do plan on at least making an aventail.

I know we kicked this around a long while ago, but I am considering building a lamellar cuirrass. I am not sure if I want to go aluminum or stainless. Titanium is out of the budget.

Of the lamellar wearers....what is your preference?

another probelm with working in Sigh aluminum is that the stickers are a pain in the ass to remove. I have not found an easy way yeat to remove them that does not take a lot of time and takes a bit of wear on the tools. many people will sugest taking a heat gun or torch to blister off the paint but...

I think Sean hit pretty much of it on the head. When I form aluminum road sign material, I do it the low tech way. I heat it in or my gas grille. I bring the temperature up to around 500 degrees and keep it there for around 10-15 minutes, then quick quench it with a hose or a 5 gallon bucket of wate...

Yes they are. I have three of them, two in the shop and one in the armor tool kit. I like how they hold the leather down and it doesn't get wonky. It is much nicer than the older style draw gauges that were around...

I use a Hyde knife, or a head knife to cut leather, but I have heard many do use a beverly shear to cut leather. I am not a big fan of shearing leather though.

Make sure that if you elevate the piping that you put a drain in the pipe at the low spots, that way water will not accumulate in the low spots.
