I used rapid rivets (2 piece) in all three of the CoP's I have made. One was suede, one is a utility hide (blacksmith 4 oz), and the last was a St. Maurice style in canvas. The suede one was my first, it is still around as loaner gear, I didn't know better, that is why I used it. The utility hide, l...

What I use for hidden arms is a splinted leather vambrace (ABS splints), and a wingless elbow cop mounted on Trace Adams knee pad all tied together with paracord. It is not elegant, but it is low profile, the pads are washable and it is comfortable. The only thing I am not happy with is the ABS, but...

If you can get architectural mylar sheets, they will print in the inkjets. I print plans all the time. The lasers bond the toner to the mylar, inkjets put ink on the surface, so they may smudge.
Matter of fact, I use odd sized mylar for tracing film.

Well, I think preference comes in to play a little also. I have a decent wood shop and I used to do a fair amount of wood work, not so much any more. My opinion is that really fine wood working comes through the hand process, but it makes it so darned expensive that the labor costs out way the value...

If you have the product manual or can download it from their site, there is an 800# , on the front page, you can order parts from. I have never tried this, but I would try that first. I think the nose on the planishing hammer one is longer, at least I think it is on mine. And as Aaron said, the trigger is not there. IIRC Duke Paul talks about a quick break away holder he has on a baldric across his back when he fights spear. It is basically a piece of siloflex (HPDE pipe) that is rivetted onto the leather baldric and the sword "snaps" into it. He uses that when his spear is snagged. That may work for...

Check your blade adjustment. As Redrook states, sometimes they loosen up or get out of alignment. With my shear, the top bolts on the gear drive loosen up and the blade chipped because of misalignment. I had to grind the chip out and resharpen them.

I am looking for Vol. 8 (1974 - 76), "Notes on a Newly Discovered Piece of Fourteenth-Century Armour" by A.V.B. Norman.

Question on Research materials

How does one find back issues of the Journal of The arms and Armour Society?

I have searched on line, but haven't really found any answers. I am trying to expand away from using someone elses research and delving into doing my own.

Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.
