One of the other problems that was noted with the swiss style helmet (like the one at Higgins) was the perception that it looked too German. I am not sure if that is a 100% valid reason, but alot of the contemporary literature on the M1 helmet development cites it.

Louis,
It looks like he decreased the diameter of his sanding disc backing pad. The part that holds the sanding pad. If you do that, the sandpaper wraps up around the edge, so I can see that. Other than that, I think Eric would have to explain farther...

I agree with you on this. From time to time the experimental inter war helmets come up for sale on the net and at auctions. For a collector, these would be nice to fill in the gaps for helmet collections. In the book "Steel Pots" there is a chapter on the post WWI helmets and how the devel...

You know, I was wondering the same things about English Wheels. Most that I have seen at Trick Tools, et al, will do UP TO 16 ga. My guess is 16 ga is going to be pretty tough to run through the wheel and the wheel is probably going to have to be pretty substantial...

My old standby 4 1/2 angle grinder is a $14 knock off. When I got it, it came with accessories like cutting, grinding and sanding items, and to my surprise it also came with an extra set of brushes for the motor. I know noiw why it did...a year into it's use, the brushes spontaneously disassembled! ...

I am 6'2" and use a 32" sword with an aluminum basket. The swords are tip heavy compared to hilt heavy. They balance about 4" in front of the basket. I tried longer swords, but I prefer the shorter length because I get more control. I would use gauntlets, and a pommel, but I have not ...

Your Grace, I think that your jacks look good, they are not as bulky in material as most that are seen in the market. Thank you Alcyoneus and your Grace Kilkenny. I always wondered how it was done. I gather that one of the problems was that they did not have the mass that also protects. Is it just me or is the bore just a piece of non seamed pipe? The cannon we make all have seamless liners. Of course, the ones we make are from a later period (18th and 19th century).

It is an awesome build though!
