Make a back up sword and a dagger, or a mace approvable in your Kingdom...
The hammer sounds way cool! Too many maces and not enough fun things like a hammer out on the field!

Well, in my limited knowledge, Lignum Vitae (ironwood) is the hardest, Pine is about the softest. I have a maple maul I use for carving, it is about 50+ years old, doesn't show hardly any signs of abuse.

Greetings one and all, I am in the process of redoing my polearm. I bought from a fighter that retired due to medical conditions and while it is usable, the foam is starting to break down and it needs retaped anyway. The rattan is in near perfect condition as he really didn't fight with it much befo...

Cat, I feel your daughters pain. That is a bad break, hopefully she won't give up the game. I played semi pro baseball for three years, one shattered cup, a bone bruise to the forearm off a bad hop and my fair share of line drives making contact. The lacrosse helmet might be the ticket, it is light,...

Matt with yor skills developing as they are, a full raised helm would not be out of t he question, skill wise. Time wise, and difficulty wise, well those are too imponderables that only you can answer. But, with that siad, you have the skill to do such a feat!

Sir Tascius, I see what you mean. The double leading to triple layers and the widths would definitely hider the ability to rotate beyond vertical. I gather the compression is not that good either.

For the most part as Irish said, shipping kills any good deal on any sheild, unless it is aluminum and the price is low. In my neck of the woods, just about all shields are curved. Tuomas, making a shield press isn't hard, there are several posts on the board about doing them. In my experience, curv...

I agree with the leg issue. Hidden would be best, with leg covering in the winter is probably pretty correct, there is a reference to a trouser of sort,(name escapes me). Quilted would appear similar to the galdiatorial leg armour so that is at least plausible. I have seen some references made to th...

Greetings one and all, I am considering making a Roman harness for SCA combat, Heavy list and for melee. Anyone out there have a good kit that they would like to post? As a fluting hammer...I think if you are able to cut back the bottom die holder a bit and rework the carrier on it, it is not a bad idea in concept. I think it will work for what you want with 16 ga.
