I was wondering about these: m These are vinyl made by the Caplug company, they are pretty tough and would be still need padding under them with the current rules. Any length and ID and OD can be made. They are like cheaper trailer ball covers... This is the main website, with technical data, if any...

I use abrasive cord to sharpen my edge bevelers. The biggest problem, other than finding it locally, is that the stuff I have only works on #3 and larger bevelers. Stitch groover, I always buy new blades...I can never get them decently sharp. For the $1-2, it was worth buying new there... of course ...

Matt, I am pretty much in the same boat. My shop is heated with electric milk house heaters and kerosene. I do have a huge woodstove, but ran out of time to put it in prior to winter. Spring will bring a new garage door and then the stove will go in. It is just a waste to heat the outside. It is 12 ...

I think I should rephrase my original statement. As padding for plate armour, the quilting method MAY be a good option, but as Sir corby points out, it will not be stand alone armour. He has an excellent aketon that not only looks good, but serves him well. I would place more value on his opinion th...

My experience with weighted rawhide mallets (garland hammer) is that it boughs the metal with ease and isn't as jarring or make the small marks that steel hammers do. But, I start with a rawhide and then move onto a steel hammer for hardening and finishing. It also doesn't work well in raising. I tr...

Brookswift, I used Steve's instructions from his website that Juan listed. They were pretty easy to do. I got the heebie jeebies drilling the holes for both the verveilles and the liner, but after the first one or two, it got easier. It is like skydiving, first jump out of the plane was hard, it get...

What size are you looking for? Tack shops carry them, Tandy or the Leather factory stores have them from time to time. They are mostly roller buckles and you would have to do creative work to them to make them look period. Also check out Talbot's fine acessories, Raymonds quiet press and historic ou...

Corran, Welcome to the wild and sometimes wacky world of armouring and SCA. I agree with Sean on contacting your local shire or baronny. Yes, That seems to be the problem with the HD's in my area too. I usually go down one block and there is a Lowe's... Just kidding. For some reason, the average Joe Homeowner doesn't use alot of the really cool wood. Hence, they have a limited supply of just about anything good in the wood arena. Mur...
