Re: New tool possibility

The guy I bought this from had a bucket with smaller ones in and several of the larger ones. He wanted me to buy all of them, I didn't. Hindsight being what it is I should have. I will look again Saturday.

New tool possibility

I picked up a new piece at my local flea market to use forming armor. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/DocH717/SCA/hook.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y42/DocH717/SCA/sidehook.jpg It has a lot of nice sharp angles. I tried creasing a knee cop and it worked well...unfortunately I got a litt...

I can't speak directly to suppliers in Canada, but Hammer source http://www.hammersource.com/Soft_Face_Hammers4.html
has them.

Brand names are Garland Manufacturing, Thor and Chicago Rawhide.

If you look on Ebay, I search Garland Hammer or Basa Hammer.

I bought my last two at a local Flea Market (swap meet).

Birchwood Casey makes an Aluminum Black that works pretty well, but, like anything else, it requires maintenance and will wear off. They sell it at the local Dick's Sporting goods. I have used it blackening aluminum buckles.

Aaron, I would make a rough pattern of the top of your turn shoe by using a sock and duct tape, mark where the bottom is and make a leather sole and sew them onto a new leather sole. They you would have a "maille bootee" you can wear over the shoes for fighting and you can remove them for ...

German creased polyens- has anyone made any lately?

A while back, like 2006, there was a discussion on the three crease German polyens like the effigies for these two knights: Otto von Orlamunde and Gunther von Swartzburg.

Has anyone furthered the experiment in these polyens?
