You could try this site:

I would also check over on Roman Army Talk forum, they have a whole section on ancient combat games.

His Grace Cariadoc had a class on making them at Pennsic this year. He said the directions were in his miscellany. The ones he made were like the ones like the Crafty Celt makes. www.daviddfriedman.com/Medieval/...pdf/Miscellany.htm m I have not tried his method, but his class and his one on one dem...

I have both surforms also. Stanley makes different blades for all the holders: m If I were doing flat sides, I would use a plane and saw. A hand saw is a pretty cheap investment. Matter of fact, I was given two brand new ones when I bought a vintage craftsman carpenters box. If you were in PA you co...

Good post. Now I am $600.00 in the hole, from a grinder spark in the eye. Yes, I was wearing my glasses. Sparks have a way of bouncing around between your eye and your glasses. I made my air riveter from the $9 air hammer from HF:
http://www.harborfreight.com/media/cata ... 8d27136e95
I cut the "pointy" off the one shaft and made a depression by drilling and polishing, it needed retempered also. But, it works better than hand riveting and for $9 it was a cheap experiment.

I just searched over on Roman army talk...and found this:
http://www.reliks.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=1280
It says it has a high carbon steel blade....
http://www.reliks.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=1280
Perhaps Matt Amt or someone on the RAT board could recommend a European manufacturer...?

Getting a few rivets in brass I would try this guy:

he has the sizes in smaller quantities
That is; if nobody on here has three or four to send you.

Do they really hardcoat the ENTIRE excavator bucket? I thought they just hardcoated the teeth? Sean They do the sides and bottom pretty frequently. The teeth they replace when they get too rounded to rip up the ground. I kind of like what Mattmaus did with the gussets and was saying about Kasenit. ...

Sean, That certainly makes sense. I was looking at the cost factor. I have a friend who hard faces excavator buckets and he asked me why we did not do that to our helmets. In my area a solid hit to 14 ga mild steel will equal a decent dent and I was trying to cut down on that in addition to getting ...

hardfacing a helmet
Here is a question I have had for a while...
Is it possible to hardface* a helmet with welds (on the inside) to increase its dent resistance?
*Hardfacing like hardfacing an excavator bucket
