Review of Dietrich von Stroheim

I received the helm I bought from him on 7 July today. I am very pleased with his communication and business dealings. On the Frieman scale...I would say 5's across the board. (It should be higher than 5's, but I have to work with an established system).. I would have NO problems dealing with him in...

Gregory, I agree with what Angus posted also. I would add that fighting is not required in the SCA and there is no shame in not fighting. I authorized 4 years ago, every year I have gone to Pennsic (this is my 4th) something has happened that I was unable to fight. 3 were medical issues, one was I d...

Mine is made from that also. They used to call it Blacksmith or utility hide. Mine has a brownish/green color to it, I bound my edges around the neck with a piece of the hide hand sewn in place. The arm openings are not finished, yet. (it has been over a year!)

If you're a medieval guy trying to stay strictly in period this isn't any help, but if you don't care and/or you're an ancient guy, I found this sitting in a corner at the Museum of the Roman Civilization just outside of Rome. My Thoughts: I have a leather one, and I have made 3 canvas and one other leather one for friends. (One of these has steel plates, the others had HPDE plates). The leather one I have requires less rebuilds, but it is hotter and heavier than the coth ones. It also cost double what the cloth ones did....

I do not think there is a standard alloy they use.
Most of the ones I had were VERY hard, so I would gather they had a lot of antimony in them(?) But of the ones I did have, there was no consistency.
