He rivetted them to the inside of a vest type coat, and painted the side toward the body with black paint. All you saw was the rivets on the outside. There was on overlap, which, I feel was it's major downfall...

If they were overlapped I agree that they may work in a brig.

I have a set of the post dollies I bought on sale at HF. I friction mount them in a pipe to give more distance inside a helm sort of like this: http://www.vansantent.com/images/Fournier_shaper_station_sm.jpg The dollie goes in the top and the others go in the rack...Mine is home made not Fournier

I used prewashed canvas and titebond II to affix canvas to my aluminum shield. I have rplaced it once in 5 years.

Of course one material you missed was Kevlar....LOL!

It helps to draw out your head outline in cardboard and use it for a guide when making the head band. Hummm... that brings to thought shadow painting. I wonder how much difference in size of your head to a traced shadow it cast on poster board? If we only had the money for a 3D scanner.... m $3K....

not to derail...but...
I use a tubing cutter to cut EMT conduit...somewhat smooth edge and you can debur with the attached deburring tool...

You could also check with your local municipality that handles Waste water treatment. The municipality I work for gets polymers for thickening sludge in them (it is not hazardous at all). The company that supplies the polymer will not take the barrels back for recycling so we flatten them and recycl...

My DESIRED kit is 100% accurate head to toe. At this present, it is not a realistic goal for me for many reasons. Eventually, sure... I have a combination kit, it isn't ugly, but it isn't 100% accurate either. It has gotten better in 4 years, but fun, for me, is in the journey...not the destination...

I second the post vise. I found mine at a flea market and have seen them at farm auctions. Shipping on them is a killer so I would steer clear of any needing shipped.

Check out Hal on here for armourers tools...he makes some great stakes and armour working tools.

I have clamshells from Blue Monkey Armour (ebay and Pennsic Merchant). My wife bought them for Christmas for me two years ago. I like the way the thumbs are made and the general feel of them when they are worn. On the Frieman scale my wife's dealings with them are all 5's.

FWIW: My wife is a doctor. We asked about how she would function in the Chirurgeonate.
