Not really, I think the quote was around $225 for rec specs with lenses in general +/- a couple of $.

If you decide you want to take the blueing off...naval jelly will remove most cold blueing solutions.

For small pieces, like hacky sack balls and the like, I heated them with a torch and quenched in Transmission fluid. I do not know how an item as large as hauberk would work out doing that though...

One of my bascinets has a sewn in linen liner. I drilled all the holes because the punch I had at the time was of crappy quality and the punch broke on the first hole. The first time it was sewn in I used waxed linen thread. When I took it out to launder it, many of the threads were broken/rotten so...
