Time was, Ironmonger armory used to have a lot of hammers for sale. I am not sure if he still does or not. I know at Pennsic he did not have any with him and he is having troubles with getting his dishing forms cast.

IMHO, beveling the edge leads to a finished edge. If you are beveling an 8 oz piece of leather with a #2 beveler it is not as noticeable as using a #3. Once I bevel the edge I "slick" it with an edge slicker. That compressed the edge and keeps it from "fuzzing up" By compressing ...

You may want to check with Librandi's Plating in Middletown, PA at Harrisburg International Airport. They may have an anodizing solution for this. I know they plate, but not sure of other processes...

I agree with your assessment except the brownout/ concussion... in my opinion I would probably move that into low end of excessive. Unless of course my helm was not padded enough to absorb the blow. Then that would be my fault I got browned out.
