I made a set for a #1 Garland mallet. I used my maille winding jig with a small mandrel. I clamped them with hose clamps. They are o.k. and they hold up but there is a dead spot (hole) in the middle of mine.

Good Idea though Schreiber!

Other options include: lunettes off of construction trailers (I think they have them at Tractor supply), Ebay...there is a guy on there that makes ductile cast spoon and ladle swages (beckleydt55vem ), he has several sizes around what Ironmonger had for sale. I have Iron Monger and different stumps.

My best deal so far came from a flea market. I don't like buying electric items there, especially if they are not an established vendor. But, I did get two 3/4 hp pool filter motors for around $40 a while back. I ran them before I agreed to the sale. So far so good....

I finished two basic dresses for my wife, and started one bocksten tunic for me in linen. I finished the tunic in camp one day after spraining my knee. At least it was productive.

Charolette, I see your one boy has a cast on his arm, hope he is feeling better. I hated casts in the summer!

The first couple runs of throatless shears from HF were not bad, the ones I looked at lately look really bad. Mine worked fine after I did the necessary modifications.

My choices:
HF knock off Beverly
Pexto bench shear
jigsaws with grease for lube
chisel

If all else failed you could use a cold chisel to cut them out. Most are straight cuts anyway. It takes a long time and a lot of hammering, but it will work.

But....I agree with Dave, if you find someone close with the tools, most of us would be glad to help you out....BTW, I am in Pennsylvania.
